A production plant () for books () printed with digital technologies, comprising one or more forming stations () of book blocks (), one or more cover binding machines () for assembling the book blocks with respective covers (), an electronic center () and a plurality of spiral towers () for accommodating the book blocks of the forming stations and transfer them to the binding machines. The book blocks and the covers have respective book codes () and cover codes () uniquely associated with the respective books of a given working order. Each tower () includes a conveyor belt () that can be moved along a spiral path, a belt motorization group and an electronic control unit (). The towers serve as a temporary storage for the blocks and capacity of movement between loading areas () adjacent to the forming station and unloading areas () adjacent to the binding machines. The electronic control units () pre-set the towers to store in an optimized way along the conveyor belt the book blocks from the forming stations, to supply the binding machines with the stored book blocks and to form and memorize databases identifying the stored book blocks. The electronic center () of the plant is interfaced with the electronic control units () of the towers and with the binding machines for a survey of the loading data and for a functional coupling of the loaded towers with the binding machines.

Printed book production plant with digital technologies with one or more book block forming stations and one or more cover binding machines and related method

A production installation () produces book blocks () in parallel from digital prints on basic sheets (). Each book block has 'n' book sheets aligned through rows () and columns () and each basic sheet has 'm' book sheets () equal to the number &#x201c;m&#x201d; of book blocks to be produced. Under the control of an electronic unit (), a point bonding group () dispenses adhesive strokes () on the basic sheets across the rows and/or the columns, a stacking group () stacks the basic sheets and forms a basic block () stabilized by the point bonds, while a separation group () cuts and separates the book blocks from the basic block along the rows and the columns for following treatments. The basic sheets have machine-readable basic codes () and the electronic control unit actuates the point bonding group, the stacking group and the separation group on the basis of information derived from the basic codes.

Production installation and method for block books in parallel from digital print

An automatic plasticizing equipment () for image sheets () comprises a first plasticizing device () and an electronic control unit () for the plasticizing device and in which the first plasticizing device employs a first plasticizer film () unwinding from a first film spool (). The plasticizing equipment () processes image sheets () with associated enhanced sheet codes (ESC), readable by machine, having dimension and finishing information associated to said image sheets (). The equipment () further comprises a second plasticizing device (), downstream of the first plasticizing device () for a second plasticizer film () of different typologies unwinding from a second film spool () for pre-forming plasticized image sheets () of different typologies; and the electronic control unit () responds to the dimension and finishing information from the enhanced sheet codes (ESC) for selectively activating the first plasticizing device () or the second plasticizing device () or to leave the plasticizing devices deactivated so as to obtain plasticized image sheets () of different typologies of plasticization or non-plasticized image sheets ().
