The inlet surface is inclined with respect to the longitudinal axis of an installation angle between 0&#xb0; and 90&#xb0;.

Cooling arrangement

Provided is a wind turbine cooling arrangement, including a first cooling circuit arranged to transport a fluid cooling medium to absorb heat from a first component group; and a second cooling circuit arranged to transport a fluid cooling medium to absorb heat from a second component group, which second cooling circuit includes a primary heat exchanger arranged to dissipate heat from the cooling medium of the second cooling circuit; and a secondary heat exchanger arranged to heat the cooling medium of the first cooling circuit. A wind turbine including a cooling arrangement, and a method of cooling components of a wind turbine is also provided.

Wind turbine cooling arrangement

Provided is a method for cooling an electric generator including the steps of: monitoring the temperature of the end winding and of the magnet through said first and second temperature sensors, if the temperatures of the end winding and/or of the magnet rises and reaches a first upper limit, operating the plurality of cooling fans for providing a first cooling power to the electric generator, if, while the first cooling power is provided, the temperature of the magnet reaches the second maximum acceptable temperature and the temperature of the end winding is lower than the first maximum acceptable temperature, operating the plurality of cooling fans for providing a second cooling power to the electric generator, the second cooling power being lower than the first cooling power.

Electric generator cooling method

A wind turbine with nacelle includes an electrical generator, a cooling circuit including at least two cooling fans for channeling a fluid cooling medium from the electrical generator to an outer wall of the nacelle and a draining device for channeling drainage water from the cooling fans to an outer wall of the nacelle. The draining device includes at least a first draining portion connecting the cooling fans to an inside of the nacelle and at least a second draining portion for receiving drainage water from the first respective draining pipe and channeling the drainage water to the outer wall of the nacelle.

A nacelle for a wind turbine includes an electrical generator having a stator and a rotor with an air gap between the stator and the rotor. The stator includes an annular support plate. A cooling circuit in the nacelle includes at least a first inlet portion for channeling a fluid cooling medium to the gap between the stator and the rotor. The first inlet portion of the cooling circuit includes at least an inlet hole on the annular support plate for letting at least a portion of the cooling medium flow towards the air gap and an inlet fan for making the fluid cooling medium flow in the inlet portion. The stator includes a circumferentially outer structure attached to the annular support plate and the cooling circuit includes at least a second outlet portion for channeling a heated fluid medium from the air gap between the stator and the rotor.

Nacelle for a wind turbine including a cooling circuit

A wind turbine including a generator with a stator and a rotor, a cooling arrangement, a wind turbine brake including a brake disk and a caliper with brake pads is provided. An air duct with a filter is located near the brake pads of the caliper. During the operation of the cooling arrangement, a part of the air flow is guided via the brake pads. The brake dust produced by the brake pads during operation of the brake will be reduced by the filter of the air duct.

An airflow control arrangement for a direct-drive wind-turbine with a generator comprising a rotor and a stator, which airflow control arrangement comprises an outflow fan arranged to draw an exit airflow through an exit duct, which exit duct extends from an interior cavity of the stator to the exterior of the wind turbine. The invention further describes a direct-drive wind turbine comprising such an airflow control arrangement. The invention further describes a method of controlling an airflow in a direct-drive wind-turbine with a generator comprising a rotor and a stator is provided.

Airflow control arrangement

A magnet assembly for a rotor assembly of an electromechanical transducer includes a magnet component and a thermal insulating structure. The magnet component has a permanent magnet material. The thermal insulation structure covers at least a part of a surface of the magnet component for thermally decoupling the magnet component from heat being generated within electromechanical transducer. In an example embodiment, the electromechanical transducer is a generator of a wind turbine.

A cooling arrangement configured for use with a direct-drive wind turbine with an outside rotor carrying a plurality of magnets, which cooling arrangement includes a number of exterior cooling elements arranged about an exterior of the outside rotor, wherein a cooling element is configured to guide a cooling airflow over the outside rotor and to transfer heat from the plurality of magnets to the cooling airflow, is provided. A direct-drive wind turbine including an outside rotor carrying a plurality of magnets, and a cooling arrangement for transferring heat from the magnets to an exterior cooling airflow, is further provided.

Rotor arrangement for a generator is disclosed. The rotor arrangement includes a rotor including a number of circumferentially adjacently disposed magnetic elements, at least one axially extending spacer element is disposed between at least two circumferentially adjacently disposed magnetic elements.
