Light-weight wheel hub for a wheel hub assembly

A wheel hub assembly assembly having a central axis (X) and covers therefore. An outer ring provided with a tubular mounting portion, and a cover having a keying portion which is inserted inside the tubular mounting portion. The cover is made of plastic material, the keying portion comprises an annular seat made of plastic and a sealing element made of rubbery elastic material. The sealing element is defined by a solid of rotation mounted inside the annular seat over a whole of an axial length of the annular seat so as to project radially outside of the annular seat to make contact with the tubular mounting portion of the outer ring thereby sealingly closing the wheel hub assembly.

The sealing device includes a snap-engagement tooth for engaging with the collar made along the outer lateral surface so that the snap-engagement tooth snap-fits in a contoured annular groove made along the collar about the axis and an annular gasket made of thermoplastic elastomer being co-injection-molded inside a gripping seat made in the cylindrical mounting wall on the same side as the snap-engagement tooth, substantially at a corner defined between the cylindrical mounting wall and an annular reading wall transverse to the cylindrical mounting wall.

Sealing device for a hub/wheel assembly and hub/wheel assembly having such a sealing device

A sealing device for a hub/wheel assembly with a roller bearing. The sealing device includes a guard, made of plastic. The guard is coupled to an outer ring of the bearing to seal off the bearing. The guard has a cylindrical mounting wall with an outer lateral surface coupled to an inner lateral surface of a collar of the outer ring, and a snap-engagement step for engaging with the collar made along the outer lateral surface so that it snap-fits in a contoured annular groove made along the collar about the axis. An annular gasket is made of elastomer and co-injection-molded inside an annular groove made in the cylindrical mounting wall on the same side as the snap-engagement step.

A wheel hub assembly for motor vehicles, provided with a hub and a bearing unit as well as a device for detecting a vehicle parameter, having an encoder and a magnetic sensor, there being arranged between the encoder and the speed sensor an amplification device for amplifying the magnetic signal, which is stationary and has a radially outer ferromagnetic ring facing the encoder and provided with a first lug and a radially inner ferromagnetic ring facing the encoder and provided with a second lug, said first lug and second lug being arranged facing the magnetic sensor on opposite sides, the amplification device being configured to collect the magnetic flux generated by the plurality of pole pairs of the encoder via the ferromagnetic rings and concentrate it towards the magnetic sensor by means of the first lug and the second lug.
