A method of determining facial location and orientation may include receiving a location of a first radio frequency (RF) tag on a subject; receiving a location of a second RF tag on the subject; determining a location and orientation of a face of the subject using at least the location of the first RF tag and the location of the second RF tag; and sending commands to one or more camera units. The commands may cause the one or more camera units to capture the location and orientation of the face of the subject.

The invention relates to a transmission control method of a set of transmitter/receiver systems of a local network comprising N transmitter/receiver systems wishing to transmit at least one data packet via the wireless local network, each transmitter/receiver system wishing to transmit said at least one data packet after a contention period during which a transmitter/receiver is or is not authorized to transmit the data packet of said transmitter/receiver, the method being characterized in that the contention period is broken down into R consecutive contention windows where R&#x2267;1, each contention window being broken down into K intervals of equal duration &#x3b8; followed by an interval of duration &#x3b4;, each contention window corresponding to a round r of contention; and in that the method comprises a step of determining the number K of intervals and the number R of contention windows, on the basis of the number N of transmitter/receiver systems wishing to transmit at least one data packet via the wireless local network.

Gesture-based association of multiple devices may be facilitated, which may effectuate presentation of content related to associated devices. Gesture detection may reduce or completely eliminate any ambiguity of whether the association is wanted or not. Some implementations may be employed in a theme park in which park guests wear an RFID wristband. During a park visit, when merchandise goods with embedded RFIDs are purchased (e.g., toys and/or other merchandise), the merchandise may be associated with the wristband and, therefore, the park guest wearing the wristband. Such association may give the theme park environment and/or the toy itself a mechanism to adapt their behavior depending on which toy the park guest is carrying. This may contribute to richer storytelling and personalized experiences, which may be realized by using location information, knowledge about the park guest's preferences or previous park visits, favorite attractions, age, language-specific information, and/or other information.

Facilitating gesture-based association of multiple devices

Systems and methods for communicating information between user devices and physical objects which are separate from the user devices. The physical objects may store information related to one or more online games associated with the physical objects. The user devices may obtain the information stored by the physical objects via light communication. The user devices may use the obtained information in order to effectuate presentation of a virtual character and/or virtual object in an online game corresponding to the information.

An audio-based navigation system for determining a present location or position of a mobile device such as a smartphone within a venue. The system includes a sound system with a first speaker playing first audio content and a second speaker playing second audio content. The first speaker is positioned in a first space in a venue, and the second speaker is positioned in a second space of the venue. The navigation system also includes a mobile device with memory storing a database of fingerprints of a plurality of differing audio content. The mobile device includes a microphone for receiving an audio signal associated with the first audio content or with the second audio content. The mobile device includes a processor(s) selectively running software to determine the mobile device location in the first or second space using either fingerprinting or watermarking module by processing the received audio signal.

LEDs that transmit or receive data in a VLC channel may create a flickering effect which is caused by the human eye being able to perceive the fluctuations of the light intensity in a LED. To prevent flickering such that the LED is perceived as being illuminated at a constant intensity, the LEDs may emit light based on a pattern of dark and energy slots. During the dark slots, the LEDs may be reversed bias to determine how much light is received. Based on comparing the light received, each VLC system may synchronize respective clocks such that the dark slots align. The VLC systems may then transmit a data frame preamble instructing the other VLC systems to cease synchronization and use the dark slots to receive the data from the data frame. While transmitting the data frame, the VLC systems may continue to use the energy slots to prevent flicker.

Reliable visibile light communication with dark light synchronization

The present invention relates to an asynchronous communication method in a wireless sensor network comprising a tree structure. For each node of the network, the communication is organized as a sequence of time frames, each frame including a listening phase possibly followed by a receiving phase and/or a transmitting phase. The method, of the preamble sampling type, enables a node to make a time appointment to its child node to transmit them a time window allocation message, each child node then transmitting at least one data packet in the window it has been allocated to. By minimizing the collision risk between packets and by maximizing the time during which the sensors go to sleep, the communication method both reduces the latency and the consumption within the network.

Asynchronous communication method for a wireless sensor network

The present invention relates a voice communication method between a plurality of users sharing the same transmission band. The resource is accessed by time division under the supervision of a control node. During a polling step, any user wishing to speak transmits () a request to the control node. The control node allocates () transmission frames to the requesting users or merely to some of these users. Users allocated a transmission frame can then transmit () a voice packet to the respectively allocated frames thereof. The transmission frames are interleaved temporally so as to give the impression of full-duplex communication during voice reproduction.
