The present invention relates to a structure for the construction of ballistic protection that combines high projectile-stopping and trauma-reduction performance with high flexibility. A ballistic laminate comprising at least two pairs of unidirectional layers, with fibers parallel to each other, separated by a connecting layer, is produced. In a preferred embodiment, the ballistic structure includes a plurality of unidirectional ballistic yarn sublaminates. Each sublaminate comprises at least two unidirectional ballistic layers whose fibers are substantially parallel, i.e. oriented in the same direction: the two ballistic layers with parallel fibers are not in direct contact with each other but are separated (and held together) by a layer consisting, for example, of a film which is also adhesive. The sublaminates are then coupled together so that the unidirectional fibers of each sublaminate are substantially perpendicular to those of the adjacent sublaminate.

The present invention relates to a structure for producing ballistic protection which combines high levels of performance in terms of stopping bullets and reducing trauma with great flexibility and breathability. A ballistic laminate comprising joined together unidirectional layers is produced. The ballistic laminate provided by the present invention is preferably produced by superposing at least two layers of ballistic yarnsand, arranged unidirectionally according to directions inclined relative to one another by approximately 90° (+/−10°). Each layer comprises a plurality of fibres arranged unidirectionally according to a substantially mutually parallel direction (+/−10°).

Ballistic laminate for implementing a ballistic structure comprising at least two textile layers placed one on top of the other and joined together. The layers (elements) comprise at least a first textile element, of which the ballistic warp threads, having a count higher than 40 dtex, intersect non-ballistic weft threads, having a count less than 40 dtex, and at least a second textile element, in which non-ballistic warp threads, having a count less than 40 dtex, intersect ballistic weft threads having a count higher than 40 dtex. These at least two elements are joined together using various technologies to obtain a stable structure in which the energy absorption in the face of projectiles is greater than the energy absorption for conventional warp-weft fabrics for the same weight per square meter.

Ballistic laminate comprising textile elements in which ballistic threads intersect non-ballistic threads

The ballistic structure for personal protection according to the present invention includes a plurality of rigid structures, separated from one another, in which at least one rigid element is formed by layering of leaves made of high molecular weight polyethylene tapes arranged in parallel and unidirectional fashion wherein these leaves are cross-plied and pressed at high temperature, with adhesive polymers being laid down on at least one face of the single leaves, and in which at least another rigid element is formed by a layering of unidirectional resin-impregnated yarns, wherein each layer of unidirectional yarn is crossed with the subsequent one. Such layering is pressed at high pressure and at high temperature. In a preferred embodiment, the rigid structure, which is the first to be impacted by the bullet, is made of a rigid element composed of ultra high molecular weight polyethylene yarn. The values of trauma obtained by the bullet impact are considerably reduced with respect to a monolithic layering of the same weight.

Ballistic protection with multi-layered structure including a plurality of rigid elements

The present invention relates to a flexible, breathable, anti-penetration fabric, made of antiballistic yarns, partially o wholly impregnated with one or more polymer resins, having a positive coefficient of expansion and hardness greater than 75 Sh D. The structure obtained by the process according to the present invention provides transpiration qualities which make the protections realized with this structure particularly comfortable.

Structure with breathable fabric for the production of ballistic and stab-resistant protections

A ballistic protection is described. The ballistic protection includes a rigid structure and a flexible structure, co-operating to dissipate energy associated to an incident bullet impact, the rigid structure and the flexible structure being separated by at least a first discontinuity layer. The rigid structure includes at least a first rigid layer, at least a second rigid layer, and at least a third layer interposed between the first and the second rigid layer. The material of the first discontinuity layer and of the third layer of the rigid structure are selected so that a speed of propagation of a sound wave through the first discontinuity layer and the third layer of the rigid structure is less than 50% of the speed of propagation of a sound wave through fibers of the first rigid layer. The third layer can have a frame shape extending along the edges of the ballistic rigid protections, so that protection is increased along the borders.

Multi-layer structure for ballistic protection

A structure for ballistic protections is described. The structure includes at least two distinct textile elements which co-operate to stop an incident bullet along a direction, taking advantage of the dissipation of the energy associated to the bullet impact. The first textile element includes fibers capable of dissipating a part of the energy connected to the incident bullet impact owing to a crystalline phase change. The second textile element includes fibers capable of dissipating a part of energy associated to the incident bullet impact by fibrillation.

Reinforced multilayer fabric and method of preparation

A multiaxial, multilayer fabric (10), suitable for being used for ballistic uses, wherein the threads of a layer (20) are oriented at a whatever angle comprised within the range of from 0 to 360.degree. relatively to the direction of the thread of an adjacent layer (30).
