It is disclosed a method for routing an upstream traffic flow generated at a node of a radio access network. The method comprises the following steps: a) at the node, splitting the upstream traffic flow in packets; b) at the node, inserting in at least one of the packets an information indicative of the destination of the upstream traffic flow; and c) routing the at least one of the packets according to the information indicative of the destination through a packet-switch operation.

Method for routing a traffic flow in a radio access network and node for implementing such a method

A method of transmitting packets wherein said packets are comprised in a plurality of flows, the flows comprising flow characteristics controlling admission of incoming flows. A plurality of admitted incoming flows with the same class of service are inserted into a queue. A committed information rate value corresponding to said queue and a bandwidth available for transmission of said queue according to the identified committed information rate value are identified. An order for transmission for the queues is established based on the class of service of the queue and the identified bandwidth. A plurality of cells of the same size are generated from a plurality of frames and the cells are distributed between a plurality of individual transmission channels according to the ordered defined for transmission. A transmitter equipment and a receiver equipment are also disclosed.

System and method for multi-channel packet transmission

For transmitting packets over radio communication links wherein flows of packets are delivered containing protected packets and unprotected packets, the status of propagation of the packets is verified in order to detect the presence of a faulty condition. If no faulty condition is detected, protected packet are transmitted over a first radio link wherein the transmission occupies a first portion of available bandwidth on the first radio link, and unprotected packets are transmitted on at least part of the remainder of the available bandwidth of the first radio link and at least part of available bandwidth the second radio link. If a faulty condition is detected, a protected packet is transmitted over the first radio link wherein the transmission occupies a first portion of available bandwidth on the first radio link, a duplicate of the protected packet is transmitted over the second radio link wherein said transmission occupies a second portion of available bandwidth on the second radio link, and unprotected packets are transmitted on at least part of the remainder of the available bandwidth of the first radio link and at least part of the remainder of the available bandwidth of the second radio link.

System and method for selective protection switching

It is disclosed a node of a radio access network. The node comprises an access device having a transceiver suitable for exchanging upstream and downstream traffic with a plurality of terminals located in a coverage area thereof, a digital unit suitable for performing base-band processing of the upstream and downstream traffic, and a traffic link connecting the transceiver and the digital unit. The node further comprises a backhauling apparatus having an outdoor unit suitable for exchanging the upstream and downstream traffic with a further node of the radio access network by means of a point-to-point microwave connection. The transceiver is connected to the outdoor unit by means of a backhauling link. The digital unit of the access device and the outdoor unit of the backhauling apparatus are configured to exchange the upstream and downstream traffic through the traffic link, the transceiver and the backhauling link.

Described is a method of providing the communication between two or more control units of a control apparatus that controls at least one electronic device which comprises two or more peripheral units. The method is characterized by comprising the steps of: providing a common bus; connecting said two or more control units by way of said common bus; controlling, through each control unit, at least one peripheral unit of the device to provide data necessary for the operation of the peripheral unit and to detect possible data variation of said peripheral unit; and providing for a master controller connected to the common bus, and further by the steps, carried out by each of said control units, of submitting to said master controller, information related to data consumed and to data provided by the peripheral units controlled by said control units; and sending a message over the bus whenever at least one of the data provided by the peripheral units controlled by said control units changes.

Method of providing communication in distributed systems

A method and apparatus for controlling and supervising electronic devices, such as devices that receive, transmit and process signals in radio relay systems. The method comprises the steps of controlling each peripheral unit of the device through a controller; identifying a plurality of data to be handled for carrying out the control and the supervision of the device; and generating/receiving, through said controllers, messages each containing one or more of said data to be handled, wherein it further comprises the step of connecting said controllers via a common bus and wherein the format of said controller- generated/received messages is pre-established and substantially independent of the size of data contained therein.
