A dye loaded zeolite composite material comprises a plurality of zeolite crystals each having a plurality of straight through uniform channels extending between the proximal face and the distal face and having a channel axis parallel to and a channel width transverse to a longitudinal crystal axis A. Each channel contains a substantially linear arrangement of dye molecules comprising first and second dye molecules having an elongated shape with a longitudinal extension exceeding said channel width and a lateral extension not exceeding said channel width. Each dye molecule consists of a chromophore moiety arranged between a pair of terminal moieties, wherein: the chromophore moieties of the first and second dye molecules are substantially identical, the terminal moieties of the first dye molecules have a lateral extension larger than half of the channel width, the terminal moieties of the second dye molecules have a lateral extension smaller than half of the channel width, the linear arrangement of dye molecules comprises at least one pair of second dye molecules adjacent each other.

Local J-coupling dye-zeolite antenna composite materials

A luminescence concentrator (LK) may concentrate both incident direct and diffuse light by way of frequency shift and total internal reflection. It differs fundamentally from geometric concentrators. With sufficient geometric expansion of the collector plate, nearly arbitrarily high concentration can be achieved in the LK. A luminescence disperser is an apparatus which holds both directional and nondirectional incident light captive in a transparent body by way of frequency shift and total internal reflection and emits it diffusely or directionally uniformly distributed across an area by way of luminescence emission. The object of the invention is a method for the technical implementation of the LK and luminescence disperser, using zeolite crystals having a nanotube structure, into which the luminescent dyes are embedded such that they have antenna properties. Using the resulting novel structures, problems can be solved which made the technical use of LK impossible or at least considerably limited it. This results in completely novel usage possibilities for collecting and concentrating sun light and feeding it into photovoltaic systems, for converting it into electric and thermal energy in combined photovoltaic/hot water apparatuses, and for feeding it into fiber optic apparatuses.

Luminescence concentrators and luminescence dispersers on the basis of oriented dye zeolite antennas

A conjugate comprising a dye-labeled microporous crystal, a stop-cock moiety, and covalently bound thereto an affinity binding agent is disclosed. The dye-labeled microporous crystal is a zeolite crystal, such as a zeolite L crystal, having a large number of channels in its interior into which the dye is loaded. The stop-cock moiety can be functionalized with an amino group to which a carboxyester group can be attached. The affinity binding agent allows for the binding to a biological moiety. The conjugate of the moiety can be used in in-vivo and/or in-vitro imaging applications.

Preparation of micro-porous crystals and conjugates thereof

The present invention provides a dye loaded zeolite material comprising: a) at least one zeolite crystal having straight through uniform channels each having a channel axis parallel to, and a channel width transverse to, a c-axis of crystal unit cells; b) closure molecules having an elongated shape and consisting of a head moiety and a tail moiety, the tail moiety having a longitudinal extension of more than a dimension of the crystal unit cells along the c-axis and the head moiety having a lateral extension that is larger than said channel width and will prevent said head moiety from penetrating into a channel; c) a channel being terminated, in generally plug-like manner, at least at one end thereof located at a surface of the zeolite crystal by a closure molecule hose tail moiety penetrates into said channel and whose head moiety substantially occludes said channel end while projecting over said surface; and d) an essentially linear arrangement of luminescent dye molecules enclosed within a terminated channel adjacent to at least one closure molecule and exhibiting properties related to supramolecular organization.

Dye loaded zeolite material

The present invention discloses a method for the intercalation of a chromophore within channels of a zeolite L crystal. The intercalated chromophores exhibit J type aggregation of the chromophores within the channels of the zeolite L crystals. The invention discloses method parameters which lead to the J type aggregation of the chromophores within the channels of the zeolite L crystals. The J type aggregation of the chromophores affords unique florescent properties rendering the intercalated zeolite L crystals as a material for use in novel optoelectronic devices.

Method for intercalating chromophores into zeolite-L nanochannels and products thereof

The invention is about the preparation of novel highly transparent zeolite-doped polymer and zeolites monolayers. External coating of the zeolite crystals by covalently linked functionalized alkoxysilane derivatives allows for an efficient dispersion of the nano zeolite particles into an organic liquid monomer; the following co-polymerisation process leads to a hard, insoluble and transparent material containing said zeolites. Optical properties such as colour, refractive index, Abbe number or photochromism can be fine tuned by simply changing zeolite loading, while transparency is maintained.
