Embodiments described herein relate to methods and apparatus in networks, and particularly methods, Location Management Functions, base stations and wireless devices for configuring and sending uplink sounding reference signals (UL SRS). An example method performed by a Location Management Function (LMF) comprises receiving radio resource information relating to radio resources that can be applied for UL SRS by a wireless device; and providing a notification relating to triggering aperiodic uplink SRS to a base station serving the wireless device.

Methods may be provided to operate radio access network RAN nodes in a wireless communication network. For example, resource coordination information may be transmitted from a first RAN node to a second RAN node, wherein the resource coordination information defines at least one communication resource that is available for a wireless terminal to use for sidelink communication. Methods for tracking area management for moving RAN

A method performed by a server for assisting a radio network node to handle a set of positioning assistance data for positioning one or more User Equipments, UEs, in a wireless communications network is provided. Based on importance, the server determines a priority associated to the respective positioning assistance data out of the set of positioning assistance data. The server assists the radio network node by sending the set of positioning assistance data, and information about the determined priority associated to the respective positioning assistance data. A method performed by a network node to change a transport path for a user plane session in a radio communications network. The path prolongs along a first part between an antenna endpoint of a network node and a Packet Processing Function (PPF) instance serving the network node and a second part between the PPF instance and a Core Network (CN) endpoint. The network node identifies available CN endpoints in a CN, available PPF instances in a Radio Access Network (RAN) and of available antenna endpoints in the RAN that are available for the user plane session and comprises a number of possible transport paths for the user plane session. In one aspect of the teachings herein, a radio network node associated with a source cell provides sidelink configuration information to a wireless device to be handed over to a target cell. The information indicates the sidelink synchronization and resource configurations associated with the target cell, and the wireless device performs sidelink communications based on the sidelink synchronization and resource configurations of the target cell. Receiving the sidelink resource and timing information associated with the target cell enables the wireless device to perform sidelink communications using the target-cell resources and timing, even while still being served in a cellular sense from the source cell. Thus, the wireless device may begin or resume sidelink communications using the sidelink timing and resources associated with the target cell, irrespective of whether cellular handover of the wireless device from the source cell to the target cell has completed.

Method and apparatus for cellular handovers involving sidelink communications

A wireless communication device () served by a wireless wide area network (WWAN) base station supports per-bearer switching of bearer traffic between the WWAN and a wireless local area network (WLAN) in a manner transparent to the WLAN. The device in this regard establishes a secure tunnel () through the WLAN to a security gateway (), based on the device receiving a message from the WWAN base station () to establish the secure tunnel (). The device switches bearer traffic between the WWAN and the WLAN on a per bearer basis, with bearer traffic switched to the WLAN being transported through the secure tunnel () and over a connection () between the security gateway () and the WWAN base station ().

Embodiments herein relate to a method performed by a wireless device () for handling positioning of the wireless device in a wireless communicationsnetwork (). The wireless device () receives assistance data from a location node (), or a radio network node (), in the wireless communications network, wherein the assistance data comprises a positioning configuration comprising a start and/or stop information indicating when positioning reference signal, PRS, transmissions from the radio network node are started and/or ended. A first wireless communication device belongs to a first of multiple groups of wireless communication devices. Devices in any given group are synchronized to the same timing reference and devices in different groups are not synchronized to the same timing reference. The first device receives a message that indicates, for each of one or more of the groups, a range of possible values for misalignment between the timing reference of that group and a common timing reference. The range accounts for uncertainty in that misalignment. The first device determines, based on the one or more ranges, intervals of times during which direct control signaling is expected to be received at the first device from one or more devices in one or more other groups. The first device then adjusts intervals of times during which it is configured to operate in an awake state to narrowly encompass the intervals of times during which the direct control signaling is expected to be received.

A node of a radio access network (RAN) receives, from a WLAN Termination (WT), an Extended Service Set Identifier (ESSID) and/or a Basic Service Set Identifier (BSSID) for one or more WLAN access points controlled by the WT. The node maintains a mapping between the ESSIDs and/or the BSSIDs and corresponding WLAN access points of the WT. Responsive to receiving a measurement report from a UE, the measurement report indicating an ESSID and/or a BSSID, the node associates the UE with a WLAN access point, based on said mapping. An interface may be established between the node and the WT.
