Example embodiments include a method for receiving, at a user device from a home access point, a first digital certificate for a residential wireless roaming mode, wherein the residential wireless roaming mode provides the user device remote access to a wireless local area network corresponding to the home access point, and wherein the first digital certificate is issued by a certificate authority of a service provider associated with the home access point; transmitting at least one probe request message to at least one public access point, wherein the probe request message includes at least the first digital certificate; receiving from the at least one public access point a probe response message including information for remotely accessing the wireless local area network via a virtual private network connection established between the public access point and the home access point.

Facilitating residential wireless roaming via VPN connectivity over public service provider networks

The present disclosure generally discloses a path selection capability configured to support intelligent path selection within the context of a hybrid-access communication network including a hybrid-access gateway (HAG) and a hybrid-access customer premises equipment (HCPE) in communication based on a multipath communication capability. The path selection capability is configured to support HCPE-based intelligent path selection for downlink traffic being provided from the HAG to the HCPE for delivery to CPEs supported by the HCPE. The path selection capability is configured to support HCPE-based intelligent path selection based on flow identification information signaled from the HAG to the HCPE based on determination of the flow identification information of the downlink traffic by the HAG. The HCPE-based intelligent path selection enables the HCPE to control the path(s) (e.g., multipath subflow(s) of a multipath connection) over which the downlink traffic is sent from the HAG to the HCPE.

Network path reliability

A tunnel is established between a gateway and a customer premises equipment (CPE) that are connected by a plurality of concurrent communication paths. In some cases, some the communication paths operate according to different access technologies. The tunnel is associated with a hypertext transfer protocol (HTTP) session. The packet is encapsulated based on the HTTP session and the encapsulated packet is transmitted over the plurality of concurrent communication paths via the tunnel. Information representing the encapsulated packet is received via the tunnel between the gateway and the CPE. The encapsulated packet is de-encapsulated and a packet of a stateless flow is generated based on a payload of the de-encapsulated packet. In some cases, the stateless flow is a user datagram protocol (UDP) flow and the encapsulated packet is conveyed using a plurality of transmission control protocol (TCP) sessions associated with the plurality of concurrent communication paths.

A controller for a wireless communication system including multiple access points includes a processor that determines measures of mutual interference between the access points based on first information received from the access points. The processor also generates second information representing a logical visualization of the access points and the mutual interference. The controller includes a transceiver that provides the second information to an interactive display device that displays the logical visualization based on the second information. The interactive display device provides third information to the transceiver that indicates modifications to the logical visualization made by a user via the interactive display device. The processor reconfigures one or more of the access points based on the third information.

A method for monitoring quality of a video system that uses traffic transmitted over a mobile video delivery network facility may include tapping, by a video quality probe, into a mobile network traffic stream transmitted over the mobile video delivery network facility, filtering, by the video quality probe, the tapped mobile network traffic stream to identify an individual video session; and determining, by the video quality probe, a video quality parameter corresponding to the identified individual video session.
