A process for determining the sensitivity or resistance of at least one identified bacterium to at least one antibiotic, wherein the process includes the following steps: a) bringing a sample including bacterium into contact with the at least one antibiotic, the antibiotic inducing the rupture of the bacterial wall and/or of the cytoplasmic membrane and causing the release of the intracellular compounds of the bacterium when the bacterium is termed 'sensitive' to the at least one antibiotic, b) incubating the sample with the at least one antibiotic, c) purifying the sample by removing the intact bacteria and the cell debris, d) analyzing the purified sample by mass spectrometry, e) detecting the presence or absence of at least one peak of at least one protein characteristic of the bacterium, and f) determining the sensitivity or the resistance of the bacterial population to the antibiotic.

A method for distinguishing among a first group of microorganisms belonging to a first taxon of Gram negative bacteria, the first group of bacteria exhibiting a mechanism of resistance to a treatment; a second group of microorganisms belonging to a second taxon of Gram negative bacteria, the second taxon of bacteria being different than said first taxon, and exhibiting a mechanism of resistance to a treatment identical to the mechanism of the first group; and a third group of Gram negative bacteria that is not resistant to the treatment.

Medium for the specific detection of resistant microorganisms

Method of detecting at least one mechanism of resistance to cephalosporins by mass spectrometry

A method of detecting and/or specifically identifying bacteria producing OXA-048-type carbapenemase in a biological sample, includes the steps of: (a) placing the biological sample likely to contain the bacteria in contact with a reaction medium including at least one chromogenic substrate to detect an enzymatic activity, and temocillin at a concentration equal to or greater than 150 mg/L, preferably between 200 and 500 mg/L, (b) incubating the sample in the medium to allow the bacteria to grow, and (c) detecting the strains corresponding to the OXA-48 carbapenemase producing bacteria. A culture medium as implemented in step (a) is also provided.
