Elevator systems are provided. The systems include an elevator car movable along an elevator shaft, the shaft having a pit floor and a shaft top, the elevator car having an elevator car door sill. A plurality of landings are arranged along the elevator shaft, wherein each landing has a landing door. A car apron assembly is provided that includes a car apron attached to the elevator car at the elevator car door sill, a first triggering element connected to at least one landing door, and a second triggering element operably connected to the car apron. The car apron is deployable from a stowed state to a deployed state when the first triggering element engages and actuates the second triggering element.

A method and system for testing an elevator car door interlock and deterrent mechanism in an elevator system is disclosed. The method includes the steps of: ensuring that no passengers are in the elevator car and closing the elevator car door; operating the elevator car to move it away from the selected landing; commanding the elevator car door to open for a predetermined duration and measuring the displacement of the elevator car door from a closed position; and closing the elevator car door and operating the elevator car to return to a landing.

Automatic test of deterrent device

Methods and systems for reporting issues in an elevator system are provided. The reporting system includes a display located within an elevator car, an input device configured to receive input from a passenger within the elevator car, and a computing system having a processor and a memory, the computing system configured to generate a user interface on the display and configured to receive input from the input device, wherein the memory includes a list of possible issues related to the elevator car. The computing system is configured to generate a user report based on the received input, and transmit the user report to a remote location.

Issue reporting for elevator systems

A method for installing an elevator drive machine in a machine room-less elevator system is provided. A drive machine assembly is fastened to a counterweight. The counterweight is then lifted vertically along a set of counterweight guide rails to the top of the hoistway. There, the drive machine assembly is mounted to the ends of the counterweight guide rails. Once in place, the drive machine assembly is then disconnected from the counterweight.
