An annular seal is positioned in an opening of a shelf for supporting electronic equipment. The annular seal has an outer portion which is clamped between an air flow control plate and the shelf to seal the plate to the shelf, and has an inner seal portion of greater height than the outer portion which extends through the opening in the shelf. The inner seal portion extends above the shelf and is sufficiently resilient to seal against the underside of electronic equipment which can be slid into position the shelf.

The device comprises two rigid elements 1a, 1b, 2 and an elastomer mass 10 interposed therebetween so as to be deformed when the elements move relative to each other in a longitudinal direction. The device includes a closed space with a restriction element 16 defining two chambers 23, 24 whose volumes vary inversely upon movement of the chamber walls, the two chambers being interconnected by one or more passages, the empty space being filled with a viscous fluid material so as to produce a damping effect in the passages. The device is adapted to limit the movement, and in particular the whipping, of large-diameter pipes under very high pressure in the event of sudden fracture. It comprises two relatively slidable elements and a rotary member which is rotated by the relative sliding and is associated with braking members. Powerful dampeners are interposed between the elements and are brought into action at the end of the travel of the elements and rub against the rotary member. Application in nuclear stations.

The recoil cushioning device comprises a recoiling member guided in a fixed member with cushioning means comprising a constant volume chamber placed between two diaphragms, said chamber being subdivided into three areas separated by constrictions. A recovery spring is compressed during recoil. When the recoil amplitude is adequate a bearing surface is applied against a cushion, which increases rigidity.

Device for inhibiting relative movement between two articles in dependence on the speed of said movement comprises a box connected to one of said articles, a screw connected to the other article and mounted to slide freely in the box, and a nut rotatably mounted on the screw. If the screw is rapidly accelerated, the nut thereon is forced against a friction surface so that it cannot rotate, and this prevents further longitudinal movement of the screw. If, on the other hand, the screw moves slowly, the nut will turn on it, and permit continued movement by the screw.

A shock absorber for automatic weapons of the kind where all the shots in a burst with the exception of the first are fired during the return movement to the initial position of the weapon. The weapon has a recoil member movable with respect to a fixed member to absorb the impact and resilient restoring means for restoring the recoil member to its initial position. Braking means brake the movement of the recoil member during recoil. The braking means are inoperative or of reduced effect during the recoil movements relative to all the shots in the burst other than the first shot.
