Floor mats and methods for producing such mats having wear resistant phosphorescent borders that emit light after removal of ambient light so that the mat edges are visible in the event of a power failure in the facility where the mat is used. The mat border may also contain a bright pigment in the border regions and a contrasting pigment in other regions to make the border visually distinctive under normal lighting conditions. The mats may be produced from solid or foamed polyvinyl chloride materials.

A static dissipative surface covering material which comprises a thermoplastic polymer layer and an electrically conductive, metallized, such as vacuum aluminum-coated, glass fiber tissue material disposed in or to the thermoplastic layer to provide a static dissipative surface covering material. A method of preparing a static dissipative surface covering material, which method comprises embedding within or securing to a thermoplastic polymer layer a layer of electrically-conductive, metallized, coated, open fibrous material, such as an aluminized glass fiber tissue, to provide a static dissipative surface covering material.

Static dissipative mat

A reinforced, anti-fatigue foam floor tile module which comprises first and second resilient foam layers, and in between the foam layers, at a distance of about 55% to 65% of the thickness from the back surface of the mat, is a dimensionally-stabilizing, fibrous, particularly glass, scrim sheet material. The foam floor tile module has a foam density ranging from about 20 to 40 pounds per cubic foot, comprises a substantially closed cell foam and has an embossed face surface having a decorative or non-slip pattern thereon with the foam layer densified under the embossed areas.

A flame-resistant carpet tile having low smoke values and improved flame resistance which carpet tile comprises a primary backing having a fibrous face and a fibrous back, a barrier layer adjacent to fibrous back to an acrylic polymer heavily loaded with a metallic flame-retardant salt filler material which acrylic polymer is compatible with a vinyl chloride polymer layer and a relatively thick vinyl chloride polymer backing layer adhering to the barrier layer. The method of preparing a flame-resistant carpet tile which comprises pre-coating the back of a carpet with an acrylic polymer latex containing a metallic salt flame-retardant filler material, coating the latex material with a PVC layer, thereafter laying the latex PVC coated carpet into the top surface of a liquid PVC backing layer, heating the laid-in carpet to fuse the PVC layers, cooling the carpet and cutting the carpet into carpet tile.

Flame retardant tufted carpet tile and method of preparing same

A resilient, abrasion-resistant foraminous surface covering material, such as a floor mat, which mat comprises a layer composed of a plurality of relatively stiff, resilient fibers, each fiber intersect with one another. The fiber is coated with a high density, polymeric foam material. When surface of the coated fibrous material having a plurality of irregular islands of polymers with lower surface form a generally planar gripping surface, and the other top surface, characterized by a discontinuous, irregular surface, the coated, fibrous material having a relatively large, open area therethrough to permit the drainage of liquids through the surface coating covering material.

Floor mat and method of manufacture

A flame-resistant vinyl-foam gasket material particularly for use as an insulating draft shield in electrical outlets and switch boxes, which gasket material comprises a layer of a flexible, vinyl-foam sheet material suitable for use as a gasket material, and containing a dimensionally stable, glass-fiber tissue sheet material integrally positioned and secured within the foam layer, the gasket material meeting the flame test standards of CSA C.22.2 No. 18 4.1.4.
