A connector includes an outer connector, an inner connector, and a clutch that can collectively limit a torque transmitted through the connector, the outer connector can include a profile disposed on an inner surface thereof, and the inner connector may be disposed within the outer connector and can include an upper threaded portion and a lower threaded portion. The clutch can be disposed around and rotationally coupled to the inner connector and can include a plurality of clutch teeth extending from an outer surface of the clutch, wherein the plurality of clutch teeth are outwardly biased to be releasably engaged with the profile of the outer connector, and the plurality of clutch teeth can be configured to transfer torque from the outer connector to the inner connector when the torque is below a torque limit and prevent transfer of torque when the torque exceeds the torque limit.

Torque limiting connector

Connectors are disclosed that include an outer connector, inner connector, and a clutch that can collectively limit a torque transmitted through the connector. The outer connector includes a profile disposed on an inner surface of the outer connector, and the inner connector may be disposed within the outer connector and can include an upper threaded portion and a lower threaded portion. A system and method is described herein that cache web documents in two or more caches in an optimized manner. The web documents result from a plurality of queries presented to a web search engine. Each web document has a tier score indicating a position of the web document in the caches. The tier scores are modified in a manner that rearranges the web documents in caches. This rearrangement of the web documents in the caches can advantageously improve the retrieval time for the web documents.

Techniques for mitigating interference on the reverse link in a wireless communication system are described. Terminals interfering with one another and communicating with different sectors on the reverse link may be identified. The terminals may be scheduled in time intervals selected to mitigate interference. For example, each terminal may be scheduled on at least one pseudo-randomly selected time interval, on a pseudo-randomly selected interlace that includes evenly spaced time intervals, on a different set of at least one time interval, on a different interlace, etc. A terminal may receive an assignment of at least one time interval for transmission on the reverse link to a serving sector. The at least one time interval may be selected to mitigate interference to terminals in neighbor sectors.

Interference mitigation in a wireless communication system

An apparatus for reducing interference of a signal over a plurality of stages includes a processor configured to determine at least two equalizer taps based on at least one of a covariance and a channel impulse response of the signal. The processor is further configured to estimate at least one additional equalizer tap based on the at least two equalizer taps. In addition, the processor is configured to reduce, for each of the plurality of stages, the interference of the signal for that stage using an equalizer tap from either the at least two equalizer taps or the at least one additional equalizer tap, so that the signal for the next stage in the plurality of stages has the reduced interference. A method is also provided for reducing interference of a signal over a plurality of stages.

Detection of undesirable web pages

A method and circuit for adaptively estimating channel conditions of a pilot channel in a wireless communication system. The method includes estimating channel statistics of the pilot channel, and adaptively filtering the pilot channel in response to the estimated channel statistics. The estimation is performed by filtering a channel signal derived from the pilot channel to determine an estimated channel mean and an estimated channel covariance. In order to perform the adaptive filtering, the present invention partitions the pilot channel into one or more time slots and weights each time slot according to the channel statistics. Thus, an advantage of the present invention is that it automatically and continually updates the pilot filter parameters in order to optimize the pilot filter performance over a broad range of channel conditions.

Adaptive channel estimation in a wireless communication system

A method and apparatus for estimating channel conditions in a code-division multiple access (CDMA) communication system having a pilot signal and a traffic signal. The apparatus includes a pilot filter for generating channel estimates from the pilot signal and a circuit for reconstructing the traffic information bits after they have been decoded. A predictive channel estimation circuit generates predictive channel estimates from the original traffic signal demodulated by the reconstructed traffic information bits. A demodulator demodulates the traffic signal using the predictive channel estimates and the pilot signal channel estimates. By using the predictive channel estimates that contain signal energy from the traffic signal as a coherent reference, the channel conditions may be estimated more accurately than by using the pilot signal alone.

Channel estimation in a CDMA wireless communication system

A method and apparatus for efficient candidate frequency search while initiating a handoff in a code division multiple access communication system. The method includes when the pilot signal is transmitted by the mobile station that is power controlled to a target receive level, the traffic channel power level is increased relative to the pilot channel to improve receiver performance. An improved feature is that the received pilot received at the base station stays the same while the receiver receives extra energy in the redundant traffic symbols received to enhance the probability of correctly decoding the received frame. The base station detects the absence of the mobile station transmitted signal from the frequency of interest. If the base station is aware of the starting time and duration of the absence, it can focus its detection during this predetermined time period. The performance can be improved if the absence of the signal is spread across two frames at the frame boundary.
