A fluid-jet precision-dispensing device includes a layer, one or more first holes within the layer, and one or more second holes within the layer. The first holes are adapted to pass fluid therethrough during usage of the device to precisely dispense the fluid at accurately specified locations. The second holes are adapted to not pass the fluid therethrough during usage of the device to precisely dispense the fluid at the accurately specified locations. The second holes may be adapted to at least substantially maximally pass gaseous bubbles therethrough during performance of a priming operation of the device. The second holes may be adapted to at least substantially maximally pass sludge and/or contaminants therethrough during performance of the priming operation of the device.

Channeling fluid flow

Methods and systems for managing bubbles in a micro electro mechanical systems device are described. One exemplary system includes a fluid-feed channel configured to supply fluid to a plurality of ejection chambers, individual ejection chambers comprising a resistor configured to eject fluid from the individual ejection chamber. The system further includes a processor configured to cause an individual resistor to be energized at a first intensity sufficient to eject fluid from a respective ejection chamber, the processor further configured to cause the resistor to be energized at a second lower intensity which heats the resistor but does not cause fluid to be ejected from the respective ejection chamber, and wherein the processor can energize, at the second lower intensity level, individual resistors in a pattern designed to detach a bubble from a surface defining a portion of the fluid-feed channel.

Managing bubbles in a fluid-delivery device

A mold configured to be coupled to a fluid ejection head die to allow a protective material to be molded around a plurality of contact pads on the die is disclosed. The mold includes a molding surface configured to cover the contact pads, wherein the molding surface is configured to support and shape the protective material during molding, and at least one side extending away from the molding surface, wherein the side is configured to contain the protective material during molding.

Fluid ejection device and method of manufacturing a fluid ejection device

Embodiments of the present invention comprise capillary fluid transport and containment structures in which a capillarity gradient is provided in a direction other than the primary direction of fluid transport to selectively capture and transport gas bubbles. The structures may be formed with single capillary members or may include a plurality of capillaries, such as sheet capillaries joined by appropriately sized through-holes.
