A collapsible, foldable support structure and conveyance has a frame assembly with multiple interconnected frame members, junction blocks located at intersecting ends of some of the frame members, and wheels attached to the junction blocks or directly to frame members. Fixtures are attached to or integrally formed with the junction blocks for mounting of wheels or other conveyances or components to the frame assembly. A support structure is attached to the frame assembly to support a load such as a human or cargo or both. In a folded configuration, the frame members are moved into a generally parallel arrangement and the junction blocks and conveyances attached to the junction blocks or frame members are drawn together.

In one embodiment, two of the frame members are hinged, and the junction block associated with the hinged frame member is able to slide over the hinge. The hinged frame members also serve as a foot rest support when the frame assembly is in an unfolded configuration.

The sports wheelchair includes a frame portion (A) having left and right side frame portions. Rear wheel assemblies (B) are connected with the left and right side frame portions such that the rear wheels are connectable to the frame in any one of a plurality of positions and with an adjustable camber. A pair of front wheel assemblies (C) selectively interconnect front wheels with the frame with any one of a plurality of adjustable height, inward-outward, and forward-aft positions. An operator supporting seat (D) having a segmented center portion and an outer portion is selectively interconnected with the left and right side frame portions. A folding mechanism (E) enables the left and right side frame portions to be folded together for easier transportation and storage.

The sports wheelchair includes a frame portion (A) having left and right side frame portions. Rear wheel assemblies (B) are connected with the left and right side frame portions such that the rear wheels are connectable to the frame in any one of a plurality of positions and with an adjustable camber. A pair of front wheel assemblies (C) selectively interconnect front wheels with the frame with any one of a plurality of adjustable height, inward-outward, and forward-aft positions. An operator supporting seat (D) having a segmented center portion and an outer portion is selectively interconnected with the left and right side frame portions. A folding mechanism (E) enables the left and right side frame portions to be folded together for easier transportion and storage.

Folding sports wheelchair

The sports wheelchair includes a one-piece, welded tubular frame assembly (A). A pair of rear wheels (30) are horizontally and adjustably positionable in a rear wheel mounting plate (34). The mounting plate has a plurality of slots (36, 38, 40) and a plurality of alternating ridges (44) and valleys (46) which mesh with like ridges (50) and valleys (52) on an axle receiving assembly (42). A pair of front wheels (80) are mounted with a front wheel mounting assembly (82) to be selectively positioned in any one of three vertical positions (FIGS. 6, 8, and 9). The front wheels are further mountable on the inside or the outside of a lower horizontal frame portion (10) and in any one of a plurality of positions fore and aft along the horizontal frame portion. The user is supported by a fabric seat (170) which is laced to upper horizontal frame portions (12) and to a back structure (150). The back structure is connected with the frame structure by a hinge (152) such that the back is selectively foldable for easier transportation. A foot supporting structure (180) is selectively positionable in any one of a plurality of positions. A roller (202) is positioned on the foot support to inhibit the chair from tipping forward. A shield (210) inhibits the fingers of the user or others from engaging spokes of the rear wheel and causing injury.

Sports wheelchair

An adjustable wheel chair which facilitates independent seat height and width adjustments to accommodate varying wheel chair size needs. The wheel chair includes a pair of side frame assemblies transversely movable relative to each other between a first closed position with the side frame assembly closely spaced to each other and a second opened position with the side frame assembly spaced apart from each other. The side frame assemblies each include upper and lower frame members and means for selectively adjusting the distance between these members to vary the height of a seat disposed adjacent the upper frame members. First and second cross brace assemblies are pivotally connected to each other generally at their midpoints and mounted transversely between the side frame assemblies in a manner so as to form a collapsible X-like configuration. Each cross brace assembly includes means for selectively adjusting the length thereof to thereby permit adjustment of the distance between the side frame assemblies when they are in the second position to thereby vary the width of the seat and seat back areas. Each cross brace assembly includes a seat bar member at the uppermost end thereof and to which a flexible seat is mounted. The seat bar members are disposed immediately adjacent an associated one of the upper frame members when the side frame assemblies are in the second position and are spaced vertically above the associated upper frame member when the side frame assemblies are moved to the first position. Guide means are employed to guide the seat bar members as the side frame assemblies are moved between the first and second positions. The seat and a flexible seat back include means for releasably accommodating flexible spacer members when the seat and seat back areas are widened by adjusting the lengths of the cross brace assemblies. An adjustable head rest structure may also be included for the comfort of the wheel chair user.
