Provided is a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) reader that can minimize collision among RFID readers in an environment where there are a plurality of RFID readers within a limited operating environment by making each RFID reader select a channel at different delay time based on a random value, and a method for controlling operation of the RFID reader. The RFID reader includes a random value generating unit; a reader control unit for adaptively deciding a counter value for generating the random value; an anti-collision unit for preventing collision among a plurality of tags; a reader transmitting unit for generating a reader command message determined by the anti-collision unit, encoding the reader command message, and modulating the reader command message; a reader receiving unit for demodulating and decoding a tag signal; and a channel operation control unit for selecting a channel to be used for the communication with the tag.

Passive RFID reader and operation control method therefor

Provided are a reader-tag integrated RFID apparatus and a method for controlling the same. The apparatus includes a tag unit for communicating with an external reader, and transmitting a response signal and data corresponding to a signal transmitted from the external reader to the external reader, a reader unit for selecting a channel between other reader and the reader-tag integrated RFID apparatus with a different delay time, and communicating with an external tag using a random value to minimize collision; and a controller for selectively activating one of the tag unit and the reader unit if it necessary.

Provided is a power amplifier sharing system for a mobile communication system having a mobile Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) function, particularly, a power amplifier sharing system that can reduce the power consumption and the size of a circuit in a mobile communication terminal having a mobile RFID function. The system includes a mobile communication transceiver for transmitting/receiving a mobile communication signal; a mobile RFID transceiver for transmitting/receiving a mobile RFID signal; a power amplifier for amplifying a signal; a switch for connecting the mobile communication transceiver and the mobile RFID transceiver to the power amplifier; and a transceiver controller for controlling the switch and the power amplifier.

Disclosed is a method for identifying a plurality of moving tags by using a plurality of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) readers. The technology of the present invention efficiently identifies multiple moving tags to thereby improve the identification rate and reading speed of an RFID system and increase the throughput of the RFID system. The method for identifying a plurality of moving tags by using a plurality of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) readers includes the steps of: a) grouping the multiple tags into a predetermined number of tag groups; b) allocating the tag groups to the RFID readers respectively; and c) identifying tags of each allocated tag group in each RFID reader.

A passive tag including a volatile memory is provided. The passive tag includes: a sensing unit which senses or measures information about environmental surroundings of the tag; a volatile memory; a non-volatile memory; and a control unit which firstly stores resultant data sensed or measured by the sensing unit in the volatile memory and then moves the data stored in the volatile memory to the non-volatile memory according to pre-set conditions. Therefore, the life of the tag is prolonged and stability of important data can be secured.

Provided is an antenna system with high isolation. The high-isolation antenna has transmission ports of a transmission antenna and reception ports of a reception antenna highly isolated from each other by using quadrature hybrid couplers. The antenna system includes: a transmission antenna having two feed points for transmitting signals; a reception antenna having two feed points for receiving signals; a transmission hybrid coupler which is connected to the two feed points of the transmission antenna and transmits transmission signals which have a phase difference of 90&#xb0; with each other; and a reception hybrid coupler which is connected to the two feed points of the reception antenna and receives reception signals which have a phase difference of 90&#xb0; with each other. The signals leaking from the two feed points of the transmission antenna to the two feed points of the reception antenna are offset.

An apparatus for storing sensing data in a tag and a method thereof are provided. According to the present invention, data measured by the sensor is stored in volatile memory and important data from among the data stored in the volatile memory is stored in non-volatile memory according to a pre-set data loss prevention mechanism so that a battery and the tag including the battery have a longer life and stability of data can be secured.

Provided are a mobile RFID reader and a control method thereof. The mobile RFID reader includes: a reader controller for beginning a reader operation to communicate with a tag in response to a command of a terminal controller of the wireless communication terminal; an anti-collision state machine for controlling collision among a plurality of tags, and transferring the result of communication with the tag to the reader controller; a reader transmitter for generating a reader command message decided at the anti-collision state machine, and coding and modulating the generated reader command message; a reader receiver for demodulating and decoding a tag signal received through an antenna, and reporting a tag response state to the anti-collision state machine; and a channel controller for selecting a channel to use to communicate with a tag in response to a command of the reader controller.

Mobile RFID reader and control method thereof

Provided are a method and apparatus for sharing a portable terminal in a Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) and a mobile Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) system. The portable terminal includes: a CDMA mobile station system for performing CDMA communication; a mobile RFID system for performing a passive RFID reader function; a switching unit for switching an antenna to any one between the CDMA mobile station system and the mobile RFID system; and a control unit for controlling the switching unit to connect the antenna to the CDMA mobile station system when the portable terminal transmits/receives a signal to/from the base station, or connect the antenna to the mobile RFID system when the portable terminal transmits/receives a signal to/from an RFID tag.

Method and apparatus for sharing portable terminal in CDMA system and mobile RFID system

Provided is a power control method for a mobile Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) reader and an RFID reader using the same. The RFID reader includes: an RFID reader transmission/reception control unit for creating a message to be transmitted to an RFID tag and transmitting RFID tag information to a terminal control unit; a reader transmitting unit for encoding and modulating the created message; a power amplifier for amplifying an output signal; a reader receiving unit for demodulating and decoding the signal and transmitting the signal to the RFID reader transmission/reception control unit; and an RFID reader power control unit for controlling power, wherein when the RFID reader transmission/reception control unit receives a command for acquiring the RFID tag information, the RFID reader power control unit applies power to the power amplifier.

Provided are a tag signal receiving apparatus that can perform digital Amplitude Shift Keying (ASK) demodulation onto signals received in a tag, decode the demodulated tag signal in synchronization, and acquire tag data in a mobile RFID reader, and a method thereof. The tag signal receiving apparatus includes: a digital demodulating block for performing ASK demodulation onto a digital tag signal received through a reader antenna and converted into a digital tag signal in an analog-to-digital (AD) converter; and a decoding block for detecting edge position information of the demodulated tag signal by performing accumulation and decoding the demodulated tag signal by using the detected edge position information. The digital demodulating block includes a channel level comparator, a phase inverter, a signal converter; and an adder. The decoding block includes an edge information detector, a correlator, and a bit data decider.

An antenna and a radio frequency identification (RFID) tag using the same are disclosed. The antenna includes: a radiating unit having a helical structure; and a feeding unit having a loop structure on which a terminal connected to an element connected to the antenna is formed, wherein the feeding unit is electromagnetically induced and coupled with the radiating unit to be apart from each other.
