According to examples of the presently disclosed subject matter, there is provided a system for estimating a source location of a projectile, comprising an optics an optics subsystem, a radar subsystem and a processor. The processor is adapted to use range and velocity measurements obtained from data provided by the radar subsystem, a source direction and an event start time obtained from data provided by the optical subsystem and a predefined kinematic model for the projectile for estimating a range to a source location of the projectile.

Estimating a source location of a projectile

A night vision system and method for imaging an object at or near room temperature and in the wavelength region up to 2.5 microns is described. The includes a photodetector having a cut-off wavelength of 2.5 microns under the room temperature, an optical system configured for collecting light and focusing the collected light onto the photodetector, and a spectral filter located in an optical path of light propagating toward the photodetector. The spectral filter is configured and operable to selectively filter out light of wavelength shorter than a predetermined value, thereby gradually shifting operation of the night vision system from mostly reflection mode to a combined reflection and thermal mode, to allow the night vision system to detect light reflected from and emitted by the object being imaged.

Night vision system and method

A multiband imaging system comprising: an optical module configured for acquiring simultaneously images from a common field-of-view (FOV) scene in a short wavelength spectral band and in a long wavelength spectral band, the optical module comprising a polarizer configured for applying polarization filtering to electromagnetic radiation of the long wavelength spectral band; and a processing module configured to analyze data indicative of received irradiance distribution between the short and long wavelength spectral bands.

Multiband flash detection system

A device and a method for use in detection of a muzzle flash event is described. The device can include a Photo Detector Array (PDA), sensitive in at least a portion of the NIR and SWIR spectrum, and a filter of electromagnetic radiation selectively passing in this portion a spectral range of low atmospheric transmission, the PDA has an integration time shorter than a duration of the muzzle flash event.

Gunshot detection system and method

In accordance with an aspect of the invention, there is provided a thermal radiation marker () adapted to emit radiation within the thermal portion of the infrared spectrum. According to some embodiments of the invention, the thermal radiation marker may include an incandescent filament () and a glass or quartz enclosure (). The incandescent filament may be adapted to produce radiation at least within the thermal portion of the infrared spectrum. The glass or quartz enclosure may include at least a portion that is substantially thin, and may enclose pressurized inert () gas and the incandescent filament surrounded by the inert gas. At least a portion of the glass or quartz enclosure may be sufficiently thin so as to enable good transmittance therethrough for tli3rmal radiation approximately in the 3-5&mgr,-m wavelength band. The pressurized inert gas enclosed within the glass or quartz enclosure and surrounding the incandescent filament may enable a regenerative cycle to take place within the enclosure.

System for providing thermal energy radiation detectable by a thermal imaging unit

According to some embodiments of the invention a laser directed infrared countermeasures system (hereinafter: 'LDIRCM system') is mountable on a platform. According to some embodiments of the invention, a LDIRCM system may include a plurality of sector units. Each sector unit may include at least one laser unit and a laser guidance module. The laser unit may be adapted to generate a laser beam or laser energy that is intended for jamming a guidance system of a threat. The laser unit may be coupled to the laser guidance module. The laser guidance module may be adapted to steer at least a laser beam generated by the laser unit towards a threat.

Distributed jammer system

A light projection optical system is presented. The system comprises a cooling chamber containing: a light source operative at a cool temperature being lower than 240K; a cooler unit capable of cooling said light source to said cool temperature during the light source operation,- an optical window permitting light emergence outside from the cooling chamber; and an optical unit accommodated in the optical path of light emitted by said light source and enabling emergence of this light through said optical window outside from the cooling chamber.

Optical projection system and method for a cooled light source

A free space optical communication system is described that comprises a receiver node and a transmitter node communicating to each other via a control data communication channel and an information data communication channel operating at a wavelength region different from the wavelength region of the control data communication channel. The receiver node includes a receiver unit configured to receive an information data signal provided by the transmitter node through the information data communication channel, and to recover information from said information data signal; an interrogator unit configured for generating and radiating an interrogation data signal through the control data communication channel in order to initiate and terminate an information data communication session between the receiver node and the transmitter node; and a receiver node controller configured for controlling operation of the receiver unit and the interrogator unit. The transmitter node includes a responder unit configured to locate the presence of the interrogator unit; a transmitter unit configured to receive the data from an information source, generate and radiate the information data signal through the information data communication channel to the receiver unit; and a notifier unit coupled to the transmitter unit and to the responder unit, and configured to control operation thereof.
