A sliding tray is configured to support one or more optical communications modules and includes a body portion having one or more mounting locations for the one or more optical communications modules. A trough projects from the body portion and is configured to support optical fibers connected to the one or more optical communications modules. A cover is pivotably connected to the tray for selectively covering the trough. A front wall of the cover may include a labeling surface, with a removable lens covering the labeling surface. A stop to limit the sliding direction of said sliding tray in the rearward direction may also be provided.

A sliding tray is configured to support one or more optical communications modules and includes a body portion having one or more mounting locations for the one or more optical communications modules, a trough projecting from the body portion and configured to support optical fibers connected to the one or more optical communications modules, and a cover pivotably connected to the tray for selectively covering the trough.

A breakout module includes a substantially cylindrical body having a first end face and an opposite, second end face. A multi-fiber port, like an MPO port, is provided within the first end face, or a cord having a multi-fiber connector, like an MPO connector, attached to its distal end exits the first end face. Plural duplex fiber ports are disposed within the second end face. A breakout cable is disposed within the body and connects the plural duplex fiber ports of the second end face to the multi-fiber port or connector associated with the first end face.

A housing includes a first panel having a keeper, a hinged door shiftable between a first position generally perpendicular to the first panel and a second position, and a lock mounted on the door, the lock comprising a rotatable cylinder having an axis of rotation perpendicular to the door and a cam. The cam has a first end connected to the cylinder for rotation with the cylinder and a second end spaced from the first end by a cam body, the second end extending at an angle to the cam body and lying in a second plane parallel to the axis of rotation. When the door is in the first position, the cam is shiftable from a first orientation with the cam second end spaced from the keeper to a second orientation with the cam second end overlying a side of the keeper opposite the cylinder to lock the door.

A cable retaining ring includes a base having at least one mounting opening or at least one mounting projection for connecting the cable retaining ring to a cable support tray, an elongate interior defining a cable retention region, a gap through the ring for allowing a cable to be placed into or removed from the interior, and a slide mounted on the ring and shiftable between a first position substantially blocking the gap to prevent the cable from being placed into or removed from the interior and a second position unblocking the gap.

A method of retrofitting an existing patching system with an intelligent patching module includes the steps of: providing at least one patching shelf unit populated with interconnection sites, the shelf unit including a rear face and an opposing front side; routing a cable between a rear location located rearward of the rear face and the front side; connecting the cable to the intelligent patching module; and attaching the intelligent patching module to the shelf unit.

The first receiver includes a latch configured to retain the first projection when the first projection is initially inserted or pushed into the first receiver. The first receiver is also configured to release the first projection when the first projection is subsequently pressed or pushed toward the first receiver after the initial insertion into the first receiver.
