Provided is a liquid crystal display apparatus. The liquid crystal display apparatus includes: a first substrate; a second substrate facing the first substrate; a liquid crystal layer disposed between the first substrate and the second substrate; a first liquid crystal alignment layer disposed between the first substrate and the liquid crystal layer; and a second liquid crystal alignment layer disposed between the second substrate and the liquid crystal layer. The first liquid crystal alignment layer may include a first ion adsorbing group, and the second liquid crystal alignment layer may include a second ion adsorbing group. A content of the first ion adsorbing group in the first liquid crystal alignment layer may be different from that of the second ion adsorbing group in the second liquid crystal alignment layer, or a chemical structure of the first ion adsorbing group may be different from that of the second ion adsorbing group.

Liquid crystal display apparatus

A display device includes a display panel and a light source to provide a first color light to the display panel. The display panel includes a first substrate, a second substrate facing the first substrate, a liquid crystal (LC) layer disposed between the first substrate and the second substrate, a first alignment-inducing layer disposed between the first substrate and the LC layer, a second alignment-inducing layer disposed between the second substrate and the LC layer, a color conversion layer disposed on the LC layer. The second substrate is disposed more adjacent to the light source than the first substrate. The LC layer includes LC molecules. The first alignment-inducing layer includes a polymerized first reactive mesogen. The color conversion layer includes an illuminant to absorb the first color light from the light source to emit a color of light different from a first color of the first color light.

A method for manufacturing a liquid crystal display apparatus including providing a liquid crystal composition between a first substrate and a second substrate facing the first substrate, the liquid crystal composition including liquid crystal molecules, a thermal initiator, and a reactive monomer; applying heat to the liquid crystal composition to form alignment inducing patterns; forming an electric field between the first substrate and the second substrate; and providing first ultraviolet rays to the liquid crystal composition.
