Included are monoadduct monomers made from divinyl ketones wherein only one vinyl bond therein has added to it a nucleophilic precursor. Nucleophilic precursors include phenols, thiols, secondary amines, amino acids, hydrocarbyl phosphites and phosphite esters, organic bis(phosphonites, the bisulfite anion and others. Polyadduct polymers made from the monoadduct monomers. The polyadduct polymers may be homo- or copolymers and may contain a pendant nucleophile residue.

A graft copolymer of an episulfide and the reaction product of a polyalkylenimine and a lower ketone is water-soluble or water-dispersible. The copolymer is made by adding an episulfide to the polyalkylenimine dissolved in a lower ketone and heating below the boiling point of the solvent. The resulting graft copolymer is a corrosion inhibitor.

A relatively dilute aqueous solution of an amide polymer such as polyacrylamide when treated with a small amount of a hypohalite salt solution reacts under ambient conditions to form a firm gel. Such coatings are curable with light, with high energy radiation and with heat in the presence of free radical catalysts to form insoluble, crosslinked coatings.
