A method and apparatus to reduce the idle link power in a platform. In one embodiment of the invention, the host and its coupled endpoint(s) in the platform each has a low power idle link state that allows disabling of the high speed link circuitry in both the host and its coupled endpoint(s). This allows the platform to reduce its idle power as both the host and its coupled endpoint(s) are able to turn off their high speed link circuitry in one embodiment of the invention.

Method and apparatus to reduce idle link power in a platform

An approach is provided for determining a program clock reference (PCR) value validity, for avoiding inaccurate variable delay reference (VDR) values, and for avoiding a mismatch in a data packet between a sequence number and a packet number for a wireless display extension. The approach involves determining to generate a data packet carrier having an optional PCR value, a VDR) value, and a validity indicator. The approach may further involve processing the data packet carrier to determine whether the data packet carrier has the optional PCR value. The approach may also involve causing, at least in part, a surrogate PCR value to be generated based, at least in part, on a determined absence of the optional PCR value from the data packet carrier.

Method and apparatus for low jitter clock recovery in wireless display extensions

A system on a chip (SoC) is provided including processing cores and a root complex. The transaction requests are communicated between a root port of the root complex and a device, the root port including electrical idle (EI) exit detect circuitry and a reference clock source. The root port supports a first link state, in which the reference clock source and EI exit detect circuitry of the root port are disabled but a common mode voltage is maintained, and a second link state, in which the reference clock source and EI exit detect circuitry are disabled and the common mode voltage is not maintained. The root port transitions to the first link state based on a service latency requirement of the device being less than a threshold and to the second link state based on the service latency requirement being greater than or equal to the threshold.

Apparatus to reduce idle link power in a platform

Some demonstrative embodiments include devices, systems and/or methods of maintaining connectivity over a Virtual-Private-Network (VPN). For example, a system may include a server to communicate with at least one computing device via a VPN tunnel, to receive from the computing device a mode indication indicating that the computing device is in a standby mode, to receive from at least one application server one or more packets intended for the computing device when the computing device is in the standby mode, based on at least one filtering criterion, to detect at least one targeted packet to be provided to the computing device, and to transfer the targeted packet to the computing device via the VPN tunnel.

Device, system and method of maintaining connectivity over a virtual private network (VPN)

A system and method for maintaining connectivity between a host system running an Always-On-Always-Connected (AOAC) application and an associated remote application server. The system further includes circuitry configured to establish a communication link between the host system and the remote application server. The circuitry is configured periodically transmit keep-alive messages to the remote application server after the host system transitions to and remains in a low-power state. The keep-alive messages are configured to maintain connectivity and presence of the AOAC application with the remote application server while the host system is in the low-power state.

A system and method for maintaining connectivity between a host system running an Always-On-Always-Connected (AOAC) application and an associated remote application server includes determining a timing interval Ti for sending keep-alive messages. The timing interval Ti may be determined by selecting a value for a timeout (Ti) to a value between a maximum timeout (T) and a minimum timeout (T), transmitting a keep-alive message, at an interval based on Ti, across a network connection between a client platform running an Always-On-Always-Connected (AOAC) application and a remote application server associated with the AOAC application, checking a status of the network connection, increasing the value for Tif the network connection is still active and decreasing the value for Tif the network connection has been dropped.

System and method for determining transmitting frequency to maintain remote application server connectivity

An integrated circuit includes logic to process a received transport-protocol compliant packet. The logic is adapted to forward at least some portions of the packet so that the portions will be transmitted along an auxiliary bus. The portions are forwarded based, at least in part, on specific binary digital signals being provided in fixed, predetermined locations in the packet.
