An apparatus for an aircraft includes an electric machine and a gas turbine. The gas turbine includes a compressor, a turbine unit having a high-pressure turbine and a low-pressure turbine, and a combustion chamber. The compressor is connected via a high-pressure shaft to the high-pressure turbine, and the low-pressure turbine is connected via a low-pressure shaft directly to an output shaft of the electric machine. The high-pressure shaft and the low-pressure shaft are rotatable in different directions. The electric machine is operable as a generator and may be operated as a motor to start the gas turbine. The output shaft is connected via a gear box unit and a free-wheel to the high-pressure shaft. The free-wheel separates the connection between the output shaft of the electric machine and the high-pressure shaft in the presence of a torque flow from the high-pressure shaft in a direction of the output shaft.

Apparatus for generating electrical energy for an aircraft and aircraft

An aircraft hybrid propulsion system () comprises an internal combustion engine () comprising a main drive shaft (), an electric machine () comprising an electric machine rotor (), a propulsor () mounted to a propulsor shaft (), and a clutch arrangement configured to selectively couple each of the gas turbine engine main drive shaft () and electric machine rotor () to the propulsor drive shaft (). The electric machine rotor () is mounted coaxially with the main drive shaft () and the clutch arrangement comprises a first overrunning clutch () configured to couple the main drive shaft () to the propulsor drive shaft (), and a second overrunning clutch () configured to couple the electric machine rotor () to the propulsor drive shaft ().

Aircraft hybrid propulsion system

An aircraft hybrid propulsion system comprises an internal combustion engine, an electric motor a propulsor and a combining gearbox. The internal combustion engine is coupled to a first input of the combining gearbox, the electric motor is coupled to a second input of the combining gearbox, and the propulsor is coupled to an output of the combining gearbox, such that the propulsor is driveable in use by either or both of the internal combustion engine and the electric motor. Each of the internal combustion engine and the electric motor is coupled to its respective input by a respective clutch.

A gas turbine engine for an aircraft includes an engine core, a fan and a gearbox which receives an input from a turbine shaft and which outputs drive for the fan for driving the fan at a lower rotational speed than the turbine shaft. The gearbox has a sun gear which is driven by the turbine shaft. The turbine shaft and the sun gear form a spline connection which is lubricated with oil. The turbine shaft has, on its radially inner side, at least one indentation which is suitable for receiving oil, and the turbine shaft has at least one bore which extends from the indentation to the radially outer side of the turbine shaft and which is suitable for transporting oil from the at least one indentation to the radially outer side of the turbine shaft as the turbine shaft rotates.

Gas turbine engine and method for introducing oil in a gearbox arrangement

A planetary gear with a sun wheel, a hollow wheel and a planetary carrier on which a planetary wheel is rotatably mounted. In the axial direction on a first side of the planetary carrier, the sun wheel and hollow wheel include connection areas for coupling the sun wheel and hollow wheel to rotatable or torque-proof areas of an engine. The planetary carrier has a connection area for attaching to rotatable or torque-proof areas of the engine on its opposite second side. The structural component stiffnesses of the sun wheel, planetary carrier, the hollow wheel and the planetary wheel are adjusted to each other such that, during operation they have twistings in the axial direction of the planetary gear that respectively qualitatively correspond to each other between the connection areas and side areas facing away from the connection areas due to the respectively applied torques.

Planetary gear

An aircraft with a jet engine that has a radially outer engine cowling and an auxiliary gear appliance that has multiple auxiliary devices and that can be driven by a shaft that is in operative connection with an engine shaft that rotates about a central axis. The auxiliary gear appliance is arranged in the radial direction of the jet engine at least partially outside the outer engine cowling of the jet engine.

Aircraft with a jet engine

A jet engine with a linking device for linking the jet engine at an element of an aircraft optionally in a first mounting position and at least one second mounting position, and with at least one operating equipment appliance that has a first fluid area and a second fluid area. In the first mounting position, the first fluid area is assigned to a first functionality and the second fluid area is assigned to a second functionality. In the second mounting position, the fluid areas are assigned to the respectively other functionality. What is further described is an aircraft with at least one such jet engine.

A bearing assembly for a gas turbine engine comprises a bearing; a bearing bracket, which holds the bearing and is secured by a predetermined breaking device on a connecting element, which can be connected or is connected to a loadbearing structure of the gas turbine engine; a first toothed component mounted on the bearing bracket; and a second toothed component fixed on the connecting element, wherein, after the destruction of the predetermined breaking device, the first toothed component and the second toothed component can be or are brought into engagement with one another in such a way that one of the toothed components can be made to roll on the other. A gas turbine engine and a method are furthermore provided.

Bearing device for load reduction

A planetary gear device for a turbomachine includes a planetary carrier and planetary wheel arranged in an axial direction between two planetary carrier areas connected to a support appliance, with the planetary wheel rotatably mounted on the support appliance. On outer sides facing away from the planetary wheel, the planetary carrier areas include cone surfaces that enclose connection areas with the support appliance, with diameters decreasing with increasing axial distance from the planetary wheel. Cone surfaces of a tensioning appliance radially enclose and are respectively adjusted thereto and act together such that a force that respectively results from an axial tensioning force of the tensioning appliance applied on the cone surfaces of the planetary carrier areas is applied at the connection areas between the support appliance and the planetary carrier areas. The tensioning appliance cone surfaces operatively connect via a coupling element.

Planetary gear device for a turbomachine

A structural unit for arrangement at a hydraulic fluid tank of a jet engine that is embodied with an outlet appliance for draining hydraulic fluid. When the structural unit is arranged at a hydraulic fluid tank, the outlet appliance has an outlet opening that is facing towards the hydraulic fluid tank. The structural unit is further embodied with at least one measuring appliance, by means of which a filling level of a hydraulic fluid that is present inside the hydraulic fluid tank can be determined when the structural unit is arranged at a hydraulic fluid tank. A fixture appliance is provided for fixedly attaching the structural unit at a hydraulic fluid tank.

Gas turbine engine

A gas turbine engine, in particular an aircraft engine with a geared turbofan arrangement, with a planetary gearbox being connected through a shaft system with a propulsive fan. The shaft system includes a helical spline coupling coupling two parts of the shaft system, wherein the helical spline coupling is connecting a fan shaft and the planetary gearbox with a axially flexible but torsional stiff flexible element.

Gas turbine engine with a geared turbofan arrangement

A booster assembly for a gas turbine engine having a first rotor assembly comprising a low pressure turbine drivingly connected to a fan via a first shaft and a second rotor assembly comprising a second turbine drivingly connected to a high pressure compressor via a second shaft. The first and second rotor assemblies are arranged to undergo relative rotation in use about a common axis. The booster assembly comprises a further compressor arranged to be disposed about said common axis between the fan and high-pressure compressor in a direction of flow and a gearing having first and second input rotors and an output rotor. The first input rotor is arranged to be driven by the first rotor assembly and the second input rotor is arranged to be driven by the second rotor assembly such that the output rotor drives the further compressor in dependence upon the difference in rotational speed between the first and second rotor assemblies.

Geared compressor for gas turbine engine

A device with a torque-proof first structural component and second structural component that is connected to the first structural component in a rotatable manner at least in certain areas. Hydraulic fluid can be supplied to lubrication points via the first and second structural components. An interface between the structural components has first and second transition areas arranged at a distance from each other in axial extension of the structural components. During operation, a pressure is applied to the first transition area which is higher than a pressure applied to the second transition area. A sealing appliance is arranged in the area of the interface between the first and second transition areas, which includes a threaded area in an area of a surface of one of the first and second structural components facing towards a surface of the other of the first and second structural components.

Device with a torque-proof first structural component and a second structural component that is connected to the first structural component in a rotable manner at least in certain areas

A gas turbine engine assembly is connected to a pylon for mounting the gas turbine engine to an aircraft. The assembly has a frame supporting at least one accessory independently of the gas turbine engine. Frame is attached to the pylon at forward and rearward engine mounting locations. The frame includes at least one hollow tube and at least one hollow tube is fluid tight. The one hollow tube is evacuated or contains pressurized fluid and a pressure sensor is provided to detect a change in pressure in the at least one hollow tube to determine if there is a leak in the at least one hollow tube and hence if the frame is damaged. This ensures that the frame may be repaired or replaced before there is a loss of operation of one or more of the accessories which may result in a failure of the gas turbine engine.
