A display device includes a display module and a protective member that accommodates the display module. The protective member includes a first curved-line part extending in a horizontal direction and curved to have a concave surface on the top, a second curved-line part spaced apart from the first curved-line part to face the first curved-line part, formed below the first curved-line part, extending in the horizontal direction, and have a concave surface on the bottom, and connection parts that connect the first curved-line part and the second curved-line part to define an opening portion through which the portion of a display area is exposed. The display area comprises a display part exposed through the opening portion to display the effective image, a first peripheral part overlapped with the first curved-line part, and a second peripheral part overlapped with the second curved-line part.

Display device

A display apparatus includes plural light guide plates each including a light incident surface and a light output surface, plural light sources providing light to the light guide plates, and a display panel receiving the light to display an image. The light guide plates have a rectangular shape, are spaced apart from each other and are in a same plane. The light sources are disposed between two adjacent light guide plates. Each of the light sources includes a light emitting surface, and provides the light to the light guide plates through the light emitting surface. The light emitting surface of the light sources is inclined with respect to one side of the light guide plates.

Display apparatus

A display device includes a display panel and a light emitting device to supply light to the display panel. The light emitting device includes a light emitting element emitting a first light and a fluorescent layer receiving the first light, transmitting a portion of the first light, converting a remaining portion of the first light to a second light having a wavelength range different from the first light, and emitting the second light. The second light emitted by the fluorescent layer has a full width at half maximum equal to or larger than 110 nanometers (nm) and a light emission spectrum having a peak wavelength within a wavelength range of about 530 nm to about 560 nm. The second light has a light emission intensity corresponding to 10 to 30 percent of a peak light emission intensity of the first light.

Light emitting device and display device having the same

In a display apparatus according to one or more embodiments, a boosting circuit boosts an input voltage to a backlight driving voltage, and a backlight unit receives the backlight driving voltage to generate light. A backlight driving circuit controls the boosting circuit in response to a dimming signal and compensates a plurality of feedback voltages from the backlight unit to output a panel driving voltage. A panel driving circuit receives the panel driving voltage from the backlight driving circuit to output a data voltage corresponding to an image signal and receives a gate driving voltage to generate a gate voltage. A display panel displays an image in response to the gate voltage and the data voltage. Accordingly, a number of the boosting circuits for the display apparatus may decrease, thereby reducing a manufacturing cost of the display apparatus.

A display apparatus includes a light guide plate, a light source unit, a display panel, a receiving container, and a driving part. The light guide plate includes at least one chamfered corner and a light incident surface defined by the chamfered corner. The light source unit generates the light and is positioned adjacent to the light incident surface. The display panel receives the light to display an image and the receiving container includes a bottom and sidewalls extended from the bottom to receive the light guide plate and the light source unit. The driving part is electrically connected to the display panel to apply a driving signal to the display panel and is electrically connected to the light source unit to apply a power source voltage to the light source unit.

Backlight assembly and display apparatus having the same

A display apparatus includes; a display panel which displays an image using a light, wherein the display panel is divided into a plurality of display areas corresponding to the image, a plurality of main-light source groups which each have a plurality of light sources, wherein the main-light source groups are arranged respectively corresponding to the display areas to provide the light thereto, a power source circuit is connected to each main-light source groups to provide a corresponding driving power to each of the main-light source groups, and a plurality of sub-light source groups, each of which is arranged between two adjacent main-light source groups and wherein each sub-light group receives the driving power applied to each of the two main-light source groups adjacent thereto to provide a light corresponding to an average brightness of the two adjacent main-light source groups to a border area between two adjacent display areas.

Display apparatus including sub-light source groups

In a display apparatus, a light guide plate includes a chamfered corner portion that defines a light incident surface. A light source unit is arranged adjacent to the light incident surface to provide the light to the light guide plate through the light incident surface. A display panel receives light from the light guide plate to display an image. A receiving container includes sidewalls and a bottom portion to accommodate the light guide plate and the light source unit. At least one sidewall adjacent to the corner portion is divided into a first part and a second part that may be coupled to or separated from each other. Thus, the light guide plate and the light source unit may be easily accommodated in the receiving container, thereby improving an assembling efficiency.

Display apparatus and method of assembling the same

A display apparatus includes a backlight unit generating light, a display panel including a plurality of pixels controlling transmittance of the light based upon pixel data, a timing controller compensating the pixel data, and a data driver driving the display panel based upon the compensated pixel data. The display panel includes a first area to which the light having a first brightness is supplied and a second area to which the light having a second brightness lower than the first brightness is supplied. The timing controller compensates for the pixel data supplied to at least one area of the first and second areas using a predetermined compensation value to reduce a brightness difference between the first and second areas.

Display apparatus and method of driving the same

A liquid crystal display includes a light source, a liquid crystal display panel including a pixel having a plurality of a color sub-pixel, and a reflective polarizer disposed between the light source and the liquid crystal display panel to transmit or reflect a light according to a direction in which the light vibrates. The reflective polarizer includes a reflective polarizing layer including a plurality of microfibers which each extend in a same direction with respect to each other, and a protective layer overlapping the reflective polarizing layer. A thickness of the reflective polarizing layer is a function of a pixel size.
