The present invention concerns a process for preparing a microfibrous multilayer composite material comprising: 1) realizing a non-woven microfibrous semi-finished product made up of microfibres of one or more polymers dispersed in a polyurethane matrix (semi-finished product IE); 2) cutting the semi-finished product lengthwise into two layers; 3) buffing at least one layer on one side (side N) so as to extract the microfibres and form the nap, thereby obtaining a semi-finished raw product; 4) cutting at least one semi-finished raw product lengthwise parallel to the surfaces, producing an non-woven intermediate product, containing the buffed side (side N) and a waste layer (containing the side that has not been buffed&#x2014;side S); 5) coupling the non-woven intermediate product (on the side opposite side N) to a fabric made of polyethylene terephthalate fibres by means of the application of a thermoplastic polyurethane adhesive that can be cross-linked between the non-woven intermediate product and the fabric; 6) submitting the multilayer composite material to a jet dyeing process. The invention also concerns a multilayer composite material that can be obtained by the process of the invention and the use thereof for covering the internal side of roofs or headliners of vehicles and for covering furnishing elements.

Multifibrous multilayer composite material for applications in the automotive sector

The present invention refers to a process for the preparation of a non-woven microfibrous suede-like synthetic fabric that does not require the use of organic solvents and that makes it possible to obtain a finished product offering a good hand, excellent resistance to yellowing and high durability. It comprises needle-punching a felt of sea/island fibers, (a) impregnation with hot aqueous solution of PVOH having a degree of saponification of at least 94% or (b) impregnation with hot water followed by impregnation with cold PUR, removing the sea component, impregnating with PUR, coagulating the PUR, removing the PVOH, grinding the surface, dyeing and splitting in two sheets.

Process for the preparation of a non-woven microfibrous suede-like synthetic fabric

The invention refers to a process for the preparation of a microfibrous non-woven fabric based on polyester or polyamide microfibers immersed in a polyurethane matrix, and having a thickness equal to or less than 0.65 mm, a flat or slightly mottled appearance and a nap length of less than 350 &#x3bc;m. The non-woven fabric is used for the preparation of coverings for consumer goods, particularly for the preparation of covers and cases for electronic products.

A method of preparation of microfibrous non-woven fabric of the suede-finish type comprising the steps of: spinning of a bi-component fiber of the 'islands in the sea' type in which the 'island' comprises a polymer chosen from among those employed in textile applications while the &#x201c;sea&#x201d; is a polymer that can dissolve and be removed by means of treatment with water, alkaline or acidic aqueous solutions, with non-polluting organic solvents alone or in aqueous solution; preparing a felt with the bi-component fiber; impregnating the felt with aqueous solution of polyvinylalcohol with reduced solubility in water; removing the &#x201c;sea&#x201d; component by treatment with solvents step; impregnating with emulsion or polyurethane dispersion; removing the polyvinylalcohol; and finishing the non-woven fabric obtained.

Method for the production of microfibrous suede-finish non-woven fabric without using organic solvents

A process for the preparation of a micro-fibrous non-woven fabric of the suede leather type includes spinning a two-component fiber of the 'islands in the sea' type having an island component and a sea component and then preparing a felt from the two-component fiber. The felt is treated with thermal stabilization and impregnated with polyurethane from an aqueous polyurethane emulsion. The polyurethane is fixed to the felt and the sea component is removed. The felt is then impregnated with polyurethane for a second time with an aqueous emulsion or a high durability solution in organic solvent. The polyurethane is then fixed to the felt for a second time to obtain a non-woven fabric and a finishing treatment is applied to the non-woven fabric.
