A method and system for delivering personal media over cable television have been disclosed. According to one embodiment, a computer implemented method comprises storing digital content, the digital content including digital photographs, digital video, and music. The digital content is queued for review. A photo show is generated from the digital content. The photo show is transmitted to a cable system for transmission on a video on demand system.

A method for writing to multiple recording devices where at least two of the multiple recording devices are configured to respond dissimilarly to a command associated with the writing is provided. The method initiates with establishing a plurality of independent write threads configured to read data from a circular buffer composed of an initial amount of buffer elements. Then, each one of the plurality of independent write threads are associated with one of the multiple recording devices. Next, detection of when a write thread associated with a fastest one of the multiple recording devices is reading a last available buffer element occurs. In response to this detection the method includes adding at least one additional buffer element to the circular buffer. A computer readable medium and a system configured to write to multiple recording devices simultaneously are also provided.

Dynamic memory allocation for multiple targets

Methods for the recording of data to an optical media are provided. In one example, a method includes the determining of the length of a single audio file. A test burn is then performed in which all of the operations required to record the single audio file to optical media are performed except the actual transfer of data to the optical media. During the test burn, the amount of time required to decode the single audio file is measured, and then a codec decoding factor is calculated. The codec decoding factor is equal to the length of the single audio file divided by the amount of time required to decode the single audio file. The codec decoding factor is used to set the recording speed of a selected optical recording device to avoid buffer under-run.
