Printheads and a method of operating a printhead. In one embodiment, a printhead comprises a plurality of jetting channels, a manifold internal to the printhead that is configured to convey a print fluid from an inlet of the printhead to the jetting channels, and an internal pump disposed at the manifold. The internal pump is configured to draw the print fluid into the manifold through the inlet, and to discharge the print fluid from the manifold to the jetting channels.

Printheads and design of printheads. In one embodiment, a printhead comprises a plurality of jetting channels, and a manifold apparatus fluidly coupled to the jetting channels. For each jetting channel, the printhead includes a first fluid path between the jetting channel and the manifold apparatus, and a second fluid path between the jetting channel and the manifold apparatus. The jetting channel is configured to jet a print fluid via pressure waves generated in a pressure chamber of the jetting channel. Lengths of the first fluid path and the second fluid path are different by a threshold length so that an arrival time of the pressure waves at the manifold apparatus are different by a threshold time.

Printheads and manifolds within printheads. In one embodiment, a method comprises determining a resonant frequency of jetting channels for a printhead, and selecting a target length for a manifold fluidly coupled to the jetting channels such that resonant frequencies of the manifold differ from the resonant frequency of the jetting channels by a threshold amount.

Manifold length in a printhead

An inkjet head that is able to circulate ink. The inkjet head includes a diaphragm plate, a first restrictor plate, one or more chamber plates, a second restrictor plate, and an orifice plate. The orifice plate forms a plurality of nozzles. The chamber plates form a plurality of chambers corresponding with the nozzles, and also form a return manifold for receiving ink from the chambers when circulating the ink through the inkjet head. The diaphragm plate forms a diaphragm that seals the chambers. The first restrictor plate controls a flow of ink between the chambers and the return manifold to circulate the ink through the inkjet head. The second restrictor plate controls the flow of ink between a supply manifold and the chambers.
