A thread-cutting device for a sewing machine comprises a rigid casing fixed on one edge of the working surface of the sewing machine in a position adjacent to the fabric being sewn. A discharge tube extends from one end of the casing to a suction mouth located on the other end of the casing and faces the fabric being sewn. A blower apparatus is supplied with compressed air and comprises at least one vent located in the mouth and is designed to direct the compressed air along the discharge tube. A pivotable cutting element is mounted in the region of the suction mouth. A control element is fixed to the casing and has a rod shaped portion passing across the suction mouth which can be positioned in a plurality of reference notches located on the outside of the casing. The reference notches are arranged in accordance with the types of fabric to be sewn and are designed to position the rod-shaped portion in a direction substantially perpendicular to the feed direction of the fabric being sewn.

A thread cutting device for industrial sewing machines having an elongated, unitary body, a compressed air passage, a simple vent hole and a cutting blade aligned parallel to the elongated body and pivotally mounted for cooperation with a fixed cutter blade.

A device for interrupting the formation of stitches in a sewing machine having at least two needles and a looper for each needle which are arranged to be actuated in tandem. The needles are phased to perform their functions simultaneously with a first having an elongated thread opening, and the second a conventional opening. The first needles' looper is slightly elevated and if no lack of phasing exists between the needles and their loopers, the elevated looper will cooperate with its needle adjacent the upper end of the thread hole and the other looper cooperates with its needle in a conventional manner. Should there be a lack of phasing, the elevated looper cooperates with its needle midway between the length of the thread hole which causes the other looper to pass beneath the hole of its needle thus interrupting the formation of stitches by the latter needle.

Stitch interrupting device for sewing machines

An auxiliary transport device for sewing machines utilized to attach bands to the edge of a workpiece having a pair of spaced roller members disposed in frictional engagement with a band attached to the workpiece and simultaneously rotated incrementally for advancing the workpiece away from the sewing zone. A compensating roller is mounted co-axial with one of the pair of spaced roller members and incrementally rotated therewith in a location to frictionally engage and advance that portion of the workpiece extending from the band. The compensating roller is capable of yielding in a vertical direction without effecting the position of the roller with which it is operatively associated and provides a means for effectively accommodating portions of the workpiece varying in thickness as a result of attachments such as loops, pockets and the like.
