The invention relates to a method for storing code symbols and additional control information in a processing means of an encoder of a communication system. In particular, the invention relates to the storing of code symbols together with additional control information in an interleaving memory (IM) of an interleaver. According to the invention, a combining means (COM) combines respective data bits (I, Q) forming a respective code symbol with their associated control bits into a control information/code symbol data word of a predetermined number (K) of bits. A control information/code symbol encoding means (CI/CS-ENC) encodes the control information/code symbol data words into encoded data words of a smaller number of bits. This data word with a smaller number of bits is then stored at a particular memory location in the interleaving memory (IM).

Interleaver and method for interleaving an input data bit sequence using a coded storing of symbol and additional information

The invention relates to a time-alignment apparatus and a time-alignment method of a transmitter (TX) of a telecommunication system TELE. Successive data frames (chchchchchch) are written to one or two frame memories (RAMRAM) starting at a respective frame start write address (FRST-ADR). A third frame memory (RAM) having a read state is read out in the column direction such that one data symbol of each storage resource (RES, RES. . . RES) can be output to a modulator unit (BBTX) of the transmitter (TX). The read/write state (WR/RD) of the three frame memories (RAMRAMRAM) is cyclically switched through a first to third alignment mode (MMM) such that always a first write state memory (RAM) and a second write state memory (RAM) are provided. An interleaving process can be carried out together with the time-offset adjustment if the storage resource is constituted by an interleaving matrix. An efficient usage of storage space is obtained if the data bits forming one data symbol are stored together at one memory location of the respective storage resource. The invention is particularly relevant for a CDMA telecommunication system, in order to minimize the interference between the channels.

Converter and method for converting an input data packet stream into an output data symbol stream

In a telecommunication system where a plurality of user channels are processed in a time-slotted manner, a transmitter and receiver can perform bit error rate measurements for a plurality of user channels by only using one PN-generator (T-PN) and one state memory (ISM). Whenever the beginning of a new time-slot is detected, a last-stored phase state is read out from the state memory (ISM). When detecting the end of the respective time-slot, the phase state then present in the PN-generator (T-PN) is stored into the state memory (ISM) to be used for re-initialization of the PN-generator (T-PN) for the same time-slot in a succeeding frame. Thus, one PN-generator (T-PN) is enough for generating PN-sequences for a great number of user channels.
