A method for operating a driving assistance system. The method includes operating at least one sensor device in a host vehicle for monitoring the surroundings of the host vehicle; recognizing a fast-moving vehicle that is traveling in a first lane adjacent to a second lane in which the host vehicle is traveling, and determining a travel speed of the fast-moving vehicle in a travel direction of the host vehicle, based on a travel speed of the host vehicle or of a following vehicle or of a preceding vehicle, by the sensor device and by a control device; identifying a movement of the fast-moving vehicle as a passing operation of the host vehicle or of the following vehicle or of the preceding vehicle; and identifying a change in the movement of the fast-moving vehicle as an abortion of the passing operation.

A method for controlling a vehicle. A piece of hazard area information, which represents at least one hazard area in the surroundings of the vehicle, and a piece of approach information, which represents an approach to the vehicle of at least one further vehicle driving next to the vehicle, are read in. Using the approach information, at least one collision parameter of a collision between the vehicle and the further vehicle is ascertained. Finally, a control signal is generated, using the collision parameter and the hazard area information, to steer the vehicle in a direction facing away from the hazard area.

Method and device for controlling a vehicle

A method for transforming data of a sensor. First data of a first sensor of a first vehicle and a first position are initially provided. The first data include a first distance and a first direction to an object. The first position includes a location of the first sensor at which the first data were ascertained. A second position of a second vehicle is additionally provided. The first data are subsequently converted into transformed data based on the first position and the second position, the transformed data including a second distance and a second direction. The second distance is a distance between the object and the second position. The second direction is a direction between the object and the second position. The transformed data are subsequently output.
