A labelling and/or marking machine () comprises a carousel () rotatable about a vertical axis (), equipped peripherally with a set of pedestals () driven by respective motors () and supporting single containers (), also applicator and/or marker devices () occupying positions along a conveying path () followed by the containers (). Each pedestal () is flanked by a corresponding CCD image sensor () such as will scan the lateral surface () of the container () to detect and recognize a known outline () presented by the surface (), whereupon the pedestal () is made to rotate through a predetermined angle and thus bring the relative container () into the position required by the applicator and/or marker devices ().
