The present invention relates to a plasma display apparatus and a driving method thereof in which an erroneous discharge, a misdischarge and an abnormal discharge are prevented, a darkroom contrast is increased, an operation margin is widen, and an influence of a lower substrate wall charge is reduced in a sustain discharge. The plasma display apparatus and its driving method is characterized in that when the plasma display panel has a second temperature higher than a first temperature, a period between the last sustain pulse generated during a sustain period of (n&#x2212;1)sub-field ('n' is a positive integer) and an initialization signal generated during a reset period of nsub-field is more lengthened than when it has the first temperature. The plasma display apparatus and its driving method is characterized in that a pre sustain pulse (PRESUSP) rising from a sustain bias voltage (Vzb) is applied to the second electrode in the sustain period.

In a plasma display panel, a space between a pair of sustain electrodes of a non-valid screen is different from a space between a pair of sustain electrodes of a valid screen. Accordingly, when discharges occur, impurities present inside the plasma display panel can be attached on the sustain electrodes of the non-valid screen, and thus, occurrence of an erroneous discharge at the valid screen can be prevented.

A plasma display panel for improving a color coordinates correction and a color temperature is disclosed. In the plasma display panel, a vertical barrier rib separates red, green and blue discharge cells from each other in a longitudinal direction. A horizontal barrier rib is provided between the vertical barrier ribs to separate the red, green and blue discharge cells from each other in a wide direction. The horizontal barrier rib has a first horizontal barrier rib provided between the red discharge cells, a second horizontal barrier rib provided between the green discharge cells, and a third horizontal barrier rib provided between the blue discharge cells and having a smaller width than the first and second horizontal barrier ribs.
