A beam splitter component for a camera of a display device for an information handling system includes a beam splitter glass, an angular adjustment component, and a mounting structure. The beam splitter glass is positioned in front of the camera. The angular adjustment component is in physical communication with the beam splitter. The angular adjustment component secures the beam splitter glass in different angles with respect to the camera. The mounting structure is in physical communication with the angular adjustment component. The mounting structure secures the beam splitter component to different locations of the display device. Based on an angle of the beam splitter glass and a location of the beam splitter component on the display device, the beam splitter component splits an image captured by the camera and displayed on the display device.

An accessibility device interfaces with a display through a cable to accept display onscreen menu items for presentation as speech from the accessibility device. For instance, a scalar of the display detects an interface with an external accessibility device and an end user interaction with an onscreen display and, in response, commands onscreen items as audible sounds presented at a speaker of the accessibility device. When the display has integrated display speakers, the scalar adjusts any audible sounds presented by the display speakers to help ensure that the onscreen display menu items are presented with sufficient volume to be heard, such as by lower the volume or turning off the audible sounds presented from the display speakers.

An information handling system camera that includes a rapid focus capability for near and far objects by selectively inserting and removing a refractive material between the camera lens and image sensor to effectively adjust the camera focusing distance. When far object focus is desired, a refractive material of predefined properties is inserted to enable an instant focus of the far object to the image sensor. When a near object focus is desired, the refractive material is removed (or replaced with a thinner material) to rapidly achieve focus. In addition, a voice coil motor or other actuator fine tunes the focus when desired. In one alternative embodiment, focus is performed only with the insertion and retraction of the refractive material so that no lens actuator is included in the camera. The refractive material extends the back focal distance between the lens and image sensor relative to the back focal distance without the refractive material. Rapid insertion of refractive material shortens the time to adjust focus relative to focus time associated with actuator-based lens movement focus.

An information handling system camera supports plural filters selectively inserted between a lens and an image sensor by plural actuators disposed around the perimeter of the lens and image sensor so that the actuators do not add to the vertical height of the camera. Plural actuators support simultaneous insertion of plural filters that cooperate to offer day, night, distance detection and camera focus distance and zoom levels by refractive manipulation of light passing through a neutral density (transparent) piece of material of an increased thickness.

A monitor stand provides a self-aligning and self-orientating swivel lock mechanism for desktop monitors so the monitor stand can be easily locked at the center position to provide better user experience and easier manufacturing. A base of a monitor stand has a die cast plate and a swivel plate attached thereto to allow the monitor stand to rotate from the center position. A lock plunger of a swivel lock mechanism travels along a circular guided cam profile on the swivel plate when the swivel lock mechanism is engaged and the monitor stand is rotated. When the swivel lock mechanism rotates to the center position, a recessed portion of the circular guided cam profile receives the lock plunger of the swivel lock mechanism to thereby lock the swivel plate at the center position. The user engages/disengages the swivel lock mechanism by pushing an engagement button that extends from the base.

Self-aligning and self-orientating swivel lock mechanism for desktop monitors

Plural cameras cooperate to define an overlap of fields of view that consolidate to provide an extended field of view communicated to an information handling system. The plural cameras stitch the non-overlapping portions into a consolidated visual image by reference to a landmark captured by both cameras in the overlapping portion, such as a reference marker placed in the extended field of view. The plural cameras coordinate through a wireless interface or with a daisy chain of communication cables to share the overlap boundary, resolution compatibility and an architecture for communicating the consolidated field of view with the information handling system.

A camera captures visual and infrared images through a single lens assembly by inserting a beam splitter along the path of light proceeding through the lens assembly to pass a first light spectrum to a first image sensor along the lens axis and reflect a second light spectrum to a second image sensor along a reflection axis. For example, a hot mirror reflects infrared light along the reflection axis and passes through visible light along the lens axis, and a cold mirror reflects visible light along the reflection axis and passes infrared light through along the lens axis. Processing of an infrared image to define boundaries of a visible image provides a high quality composite image.

Apparatus and method to enable a multi spectrum camera with a single lens assembly

An information handling system camera leverages telephoto optics by a moveable mirror interfaced with a first camera having a lens with a narrow field of view to capture portions of a wide field of view of a second camera lens so that the camera has improved visual images captured of participants at various distances from the camera. In one embodiment, visual images captured along first and second axes are interleaved to present a videoconference presentation streamed with visual images of both axes, such as a split screen of different videoconference participants.

An information handling system camera captures visual images of light directed by a lens towards an image sensor. The camera has an active illumination privacy shutter that disables the image sensor from capturing visual images by introducing illumination between the lens and image sensor, such as with a red light emitting diode that is seen as a red dot at the lens when viewed from in front of the camera. In one embodiment, the illumination is directed towards a light diffuser, such as a sheet of acrylic, that extends between the lens and image sensor when the camera is commanded to a privacy mode.

An information handling system display peripheral includes a peripheral camera in a cavity that extends out to capture visual images for communication through a cable to the display peripheral and from the display peripheral to the information handling system. The camera peripheral separates from the display peripheral with removal from the cavity and extension of the cable from a spool so that the camera peripheral can capture visual images from a variety of positions around the display peripheral, such as by resting on a support surface with feet that extend out from the camera peripheral or by coupling to a surface with an adhesive tape on a back side of the camera peripheral.
