The present technology provides a method, apparatus and system for facilitating uplink communication from a user equipment (UE) to a base station in an LTE communication system. One or more frequency subcarriers within a predetermined LTE resource block are selected, covering less than the entire frequency range of the LTE resource block. The selected one or more frequency subcarriers are then used for communication from the UE to the base station.

A method and apparatus for decoding the LTE physical broadcast channel (PBCH). The transmissions are made by an evolved NodeB (eNB). At least one template symbol sequence representative of a potential transmission by the eNB over the PBCH is provided. A signal or signals transmitted over the PBCH by the eNB is received, the signal or signals indicative of a received symbol sequence. Correlation operations are performed for correlating the at least one template symbol sequence against the received symbol sequence. A representative symbol sequence, timing parameter, or both, is selected, based on the correlation operations. The representative symbol sequence is indicative of information transmitted by the eNB over the LTE PBCH. The timing parameter is indicative of timing of said information transmitted by the eNB.

Method and apparatus for broadcast channel decoding

Techniques for estimating a location of a portable electronic device are provided. The techniques represent radio scene information detected by a portable electronic device as a vector. The vector may then be used to retrieve similar vectors associated with known locations from a corpus. The known locations may then be used to estimate the location of the portable electronic device.

The present technology provides for an LTE system comprising a UE which is configured to perform blind HARQ combining of PDCCH messages, and an eNB which is configured with a HARQ transmission mechanism for such PDCCH messages. The PDCCH messages may be uplink or downlink grant messages, for example. In some embodiments, up to 8 messages may be combined via HARQ. Such HARQ combining may facilitate realizing a practical coverage gain.

The method includes receiving an indication of a plurality of radio scenes detected at the portable electronic device at different reference times. Each of the plurality of radio scenes identifies transmitters and associated signal strength of signals received by the portable electronic device at the respective reference time. One or more connectivity predictions can be retrieved from a corpus of pairs of a composite signature vector and associated connectivity information. Each of the one or more connectivity predictions can be retrieved based on a similarity between the associated respective composite signature vector and a query composite signature vector. A future connectivity prediction of the portable electronic device can be provided based on the one or more retrieved connectivity predictions.
