A pouch-type secondary battery includes an electrode assembly, in which a plurality of positive electrodes and a plurality of negative electrodes are alternately stacked with separators therebetween, and a pouch which is formed by sealing a pair of cases integrally connected to each other by a folding portion and includes an accommodation portion that accommodates the electrode assembly. A plurality of outer walls forming a perimeter of the accommodation portion may include a folding portion-side outer wall, which includes the folding portion, and a sealing portion-side outer wall which is connected to a sealing portion in which the pair of cases are fused to each other. An average distance between ends of the plurality of negative electrodes and the folding portion-side outer wall may be about 0.6 mm or less.

An apparatus for manufacturing a pouch of a secondary battery according to the present invention includes a lower die having an accommodation groove for molding a cup part of the pouch on a base surface, on which the pouch is disposed, a punch inserted into the accommodation groove of the lower die to mode the cup part of the pouch, a stripper disposed above the lower die to face the lower die and provided to press a peripheral portion of the pouch, which is disposed around a portion to be molded into the cup part of the pouch by the punch, from an upper side, and a back plate coupled to the stripper and configured to support the stripper, wherein a protruding block protruding toward the stripper is provided on a surface (S) of surfaces of the back plate, which faces the stripper.

Apparatus for manufacturing pouch of secondary battery

A pouch-type battery case according to an embodiment of the present invention can include a cup part configured to accommodate an electrode assembly of stacked electrodes and separators. The cup part comprises a plurality of outer walls forming a periphery of the cup part, and a plurality of die edges connecting the plurality of outer walls to a side or degassing part. At least one of the die edges can be rounded to define a curvature radius of 1 mm or less. The cup part can have a depth of 6.5 mm or less.

A pouch-type battery case includes a cup portion, which accommodates therein an electrode assembly formed by stacking an electrode and a separator, and a plurality of die edges connecting an outer wall of the cup portion to a side extending from the outer wall. The die edges include a first region, which is rounded at a first radius (r) of curvature and at which an electrode tab extending from the electrode is positioned, and a second region which is other than the first region and rounded at one or more second radii (r, r, r) of curvature less than or equal to the first radius (r) of curvature. The second region is divided into an inner region and an outer region with respect to the first region, and the radius (r) of curvature in the inner region differs from the radii (r, r) of curvature in the outer region.
