An ultrasonic transducer is described that includes a stack of at least two membranes attached to a substrate. An electric circuit is coupled to the electrodes with a controller configured to apply a first electric signal to a first electrode on the first membrane, and a different, second electric signal to a second electrode on the second membrane. The first and second electric signals are configured to apply a varying voltage between the first electrode and the second electrode during a respective vibration cycle of the membranes. The first electrode on the first membrane is configured to interact with the second electrode on the second membrane by a varying electrostatic force during the respective vibration cycle depending on the varying voltage.

A microbolometer for measuring thermal radiation comprises an electrical circuit on a perforated plastic substrate. The electrical circuit comprises at least one thermistor having a temperature dependent electric resistance, wherein the thermistor is arranged to receive the thermal radiation for changing its temperature depending on a flux of the received thermal radiation. The electrical circuit is configured to measure the electric resistance of the thermistor for calculating the thermal radiation. The microbolometer is configured to cause a gas flow through the perforations for improving thermal characteristics.

High voltage thin-film transistor and method of manufacturing the same

An electrical element, such as a thin-film transistor, is defined on a flexible substrate, in that the substrate is attached to a carrier by an adhesive layer, and is delaminated after definition of the transistor. This is for instance due to illumination by UV-radiation. An opaque coating is provided to protect any semiconductor material. A heat treatment is preferably given before application of the layers of the transistor to reduce stress in the adhesive layer.

An interlayer of a dielectric material is formed on the first electrically conducting layer, the dielectric material including an electrically insulating material. A further layer of a dielectric material is deposited on the interlayer of dielectric material, the further layer including a photo-patternable electrically insulating material. Both the further layer and said interlayer are structured, wherein the further layer of the dielectric material is used as a mask for the interlayer. A second electrically conducting layer including a second electrode of the electric component is then formed.

The invention relates to a method of aligning a flexible foil sheet having a general first foil sheet length direction to form stacked foil sheet layers on a reel having a reel diameter. The method comprises providing multiple alignment markers in the foil sheet, distanced conform the reel diameter and each having an mark length direction transverse to the first foil sheet length direction, to form protrusions and corresponding recesses on opposite faces of the foil sheet; winding the foil sheet on the reel in the first foil sheet length direction of the foil sheet; and co-aligning the alignment markers to have protrusions of one mark matching with a recess of another mark, so as to block relative movement of the stacked foil sheet layers in the first foil sheet length direction. Preferably, the foil sheet layers are provided with device functionality to form a stacked foil sheet layered device.
