A deflection unit for guiding and deflecting the support apparatus of an elevator system includes a deflection roller and an axle which is mounted on a carrier and on which the deflection roller is mounted and is freely rotatable. The axle has an axle head that axially secures the axle on one end. For torsion-free mounting of the axle, a securing member is bolted onto the carrier and supported on an anti-rotation safeguard section arranged on the axle head. A horseshoe-shaped retaining part as a retaining means for axially securing the axle on the carrier is mounted on the axle on the end opposite from the axle head. An annular securing member, which is connected by bolts to the retaining part, is used for securing the retaining part.

A lightweight glass plate includes a first glass plate, a second glass plate and an intermediate layer that connects the first and the second plates together. The lightweight glass plate further includes at least one connection element that allows the lightweight glass plate to be connected to an abutting component. The connection element is embedded into the intermediate layer in an edge area of the lightweight glass plate and the intermediate layer extends to surfaces located between the connection element and the glass plates. The lightweight glass plate is preferably used in the preparation of elevator doors and/or car walls. The lightweight glass plates are lightweight and can transfer large forces.

An elevator installation includes a first elevator car and a second elevator car, each having a respective braking device, and a safety system that monitors the elevator cars. The safety system has for each braking device a braking force regulating device for regulating a braking force of the respective braking device. The safety system activates at least one of the braking devices by the associated braking force regulating device in order to prevent collision of the first elevator car with the second elevator car.

An elevator installation includes at least one elevator car and at least one counterweight, wherein the at least one elevator car is capable of being moved on guide rails in an elevator shaft by a drive with a driving pulley and with a supporting and propulsion apparatus. The at least one counterweight is formed with a hollow body enclosing a filling. In the event of a freefall, the hollow body is destroyed allowing the filling to emerge.

An elevator car with brake equipment, which is arranged in the region of the elevator car, for holding and braking the same, which brake equipment includes: a brake unit which can co-operate with a brake rail, an actuating device which can produce an actuator force F, and a connecting linkage which connects the actuating device with the brake unit in force-active manner for transmission of the actuator force F, wherein the brake unit in unloaded setting is in its open setting and the connecting linkage is a pull cable.

A lift car with a brake device which is arranged in the region of the lift car for holding and braking the latter; the brake device includes a brake unit which can interact with a brake rail, an actuating device which can generate an actuator force, and a connector which connects the actuating device to the brake unit in a force-active manner in order to transmit the actuator force, wherein the brake unit is in its open position in the unloaded position.

A cable fixing point for fastening at least one cable includes a cable end fastening for the cable end and a rotary mounting for the cable end fastening, wherein the rotary mounting enables rotation of the cable end fastening about an axis and the axis can be aligned by a tension force acting on the cable. In an elevator for transporting at least one load carrier by at least one cable movable in its longitudinal direction wherein the respective cable at the cable end is disposed under a tension force, the direction of which is variable in dependence on a position of the load carrier, this cable fixing point permits rotation of the cable at the cable fixing point about an axis which is aligned in the respective direction of the tension force and/or in the respective longitudinal direction of a cable segment adjoining the cable fixing point.

An elevator has a mechanical linear drive arranged laterally at an elevator shaft head to drive at least one belt that moves a car and a counterweight in the shaft. The belt is fixed in the shaft at opposite ends and extends about a drive wheel of the elevator drive. Deflection rollers of the drive determine the angle of encirclement of the belt on the drive wheel.

Furthermore, a power transmission is intended for moving the suspension member and the hoisting member over at least one moving surface of the power transmission. The power transmission and the suspension member or respectively hoisting member are rope-shaped and/or belt-shaped. An apparatus and a method for generating hoistway information from images of the surface patterns of a hoistway component such as a guide rail sensed by a CCD line camera. The image data are input into a first correlator which uses an incremental position of a new image and an absolute position of a preceding image to generate an estimated position. The estimated position is input into a second correlator and is used to locate the relevant database sector in which the image which was stored in the database during calibration is situated. The second correlator compares the new image with the stored image and determines from the position index of the stored image the absolute position of the elevator car which is transmitted to the elevator control.
