A method of mixing a pharmaceutical solution including adding a gas into an interior compartment of a mix bag to form a headspace. The interior compartment of the mix bag includes a top portion and a bottom portion. The headspace adjacent to the top portion contains gas. The method includes adding a solvent into the mix bag, and establishing a bubble column in the interior compartment by activating a recirculation assembly. The recirculation assembly includes a connecting pathway operably coupled to a recirculation pump. A first end of the connecting pathway is coupled to a top gas recirculation port and a second end is coupled to a bottom gas recirculation port of the mix bag such that the recirculation pump draws the gas from the headspace and delivers the gas to the interior compartment via the bottom gas recirculation port. The method includes adding a solute into the mix bag.

Method of mixing a pharmaceutical solution and mixing system

A medical fluid system includes a medical fluid pump; a container holding a fluid to be pumped by the medical fluid pump, the fluid at a first time having a first conductivity, the fluid at a second time having a second conductivity; and a radio frequency level sensor positioned in operable relation with the container, the radio frequency level sensor (i) configured to provide an output indicative of a level of the fluid in the container based upon sensing an impedance and (ii) connected to tuning circuitry that minimizes a reactance of the impedance such that the output is at least substantially independent of whether the fluid has the first conductivity or the second conductivity. The medical fluid system can determine the level of the fluid by measuring a resistance, the impedance, or a phase shift seen by the sensor.

A medical fluid system includes a container holding a fluid at a level; and a radio frequency level sensor operably connected to the container and including an emitting electrode and a receiving electrode, the electrodes operating as a transmission line having an electrical impedance that varies with the level or volume of the fluid in the container, the level sensor configured to measure a phase shift of the transmission line, the phase shift indicative of the level or volume of the fluid in the container.

Systems and methods for processing a fluid including a suspension of biological cellular components are disclosed including a single-use kit comprising a container for the fluid; a separation device for retaining selected biological cellular components and allowing other biological cellular components of said fluid to pass therethrough; a flow path connecting the container to the separation device, the container being configured, when in use, to be positioned so that gravity tends to flow fluid through the flow path. The flow path has a segment in close proximity to the container with a configuration including a positive slope, so that biological cellular components moving through the segment are subjected to a gravitational force tending to impede movement through the flow path segment. The flow path segment preferably has a generally circular configuration, and a diameter of approximately 1.5 inches. Alternatively, the flow path segment may have a generally S-shaped configuration.

Systems and methods for minimizing loss of cellular components during apheresis

A dialysis bag is provided, including a first layer of film and a second layer of film each having a closed end and an opposite outlet end, the layers sealed together about corresponding peripheral edges to define a bag chamber. An outlet assembly is sealingly disposed at the corresponding outlet ends and has a tubular administrative outlet with an inlet and is in fluid communication with the bag chamber. A dimple is formed in at least one of the layers adjacent to the inlet for preventing occlusion as a fluid level decreases in the bag.

A medical fluid system includes a medical fluid pump; a container holding a fluid to be pumped by the medical fluid pump, the fluid at a first time having a first conductivity, the fluid at a second time having a second conductivity; and a radio frequency level sensor positioned in operable relation with the container, the radio frequency operation of the level sensor configured so as to be (i) indicative of a level of the fluid in the container and (ii) at least substantially independent of whether the fluid has the first conductivity or the second conductivity. The medical fluid system can determine the level of medical fluid by measuring the resistance, impedance or phase shift seen by the sensor.
