The multimodal query-driven imager provides efficient coding and streaming of visual information acquired directly on the focal plane. The query-driven approach to visual event coding uses clocked time-division multiplexing to continuously scan the array, querying each pixel for threshold change events in pixel intensity.

Query driven image sensing

An apparatus for wireless power transfer is described. In some implementations, the apparatus includes a resonant circuit configured to receive a radio frequency input and generate an in-phase voltage and an out-of-phase voltage. The apparatus further includes a pulse generation circuit configured to at least gate the in-phase voltage to provide a first output voltage, and gate the out-of-phase voltage to provide a second output voltage. The apparatus further includes a pulse width modulation circuit configured to provide, to the pulse generating circuit, information for controlling the pulse width modulation setting. The apparatus further includes a pulse frequency modulation circuit configured to provide, to the pulse generating circuit, information for controlling the pulse frequency modulation setting, the information for controlling the pulse frequency modulation setting determined based on the pulse width modulation setting. Related systems, methods, and articles of manufacture are also described.

Resonant regulating rectifier with an integrated antenna

In one respect, there is provided an apparatus for neural stimulation. The apparatus may include an antenna, a plurality of electrodes, and a voltage supply generator. The antenna may be configured to receive, from an external source, radio frequency energy. The voltage supply generator configured to generate a voltage supply by at least ramping up a voltage of the radio frequency energy in successive increments, wherein the voltage supply drives a current to the plurality of electrodes during neural stimulation. Related methods and computer program products are also disclosed.

Radio frequency powered adiabatic stimulation with energy replenishment

An integrated nanowire device includes a first array of nanowires having a first set of characteristics and a second array of nanowires having a second set of characteristics. A processor is electrical communication with the first and second arrays of nanowires receives the first plurality of charges and generate a processor signal therefrom. The second array of nanowires may be configured to produce a stimulation current in response to the processor signal. The first or second array may be used to generate power for operation of the device, or the arrays may function as a stimulator, sensor combination to enable the device to self-regulate based on localized responses to stimulation. The device may be implanted for use as a neural stimulator.

Integrated nanowire array devices for detecting and/or applying electrical signals to tissue

An apparatus may include a delta sigma modulator. A first portion of the delta sigma modulator may form a digital predictor while a second portion of the delta sigma modulator may form an analog approximator. An output of the analog approximator may be coupled with a quantizer. The digital predictor, the analog approximator, and the quantizer may form a digitizing loop configured to convert an analog input into a digital output. The digital predictor may be configured to generate, based on a polarity of one or more digital outputs from the quantizer, a digital prediction of an expected amplitude of the analog input. The quantizer may be configured to respond to the digital prediction by adjusting a dynamic range of the digitizing loop including by changing a quantization step size used by the quantizer to quantize the analog input. Related methods are also provided.

Predictive digital autoranging analog-to-digital converter

Systems, methods, and articles of manufacture, including computer program products, are provided for capacitive passive mixer baseband receivers with broadband harmonic rejection. In some embodiments, an apparatus is provided. The apparatus includes a receiver configured to receive an input signal and generate, based on the input signal, an in-phase portion and a quadrature phase portion. The apparatus further includes a harmonic rejection mixer comprising a plurality of capacitors, the plurality of capacitors encoded with a plurality of capacitance values, the harmonic rejection mixer configured to reduce harmonics in the input signal based on applying a quantity of the plurality of capacitance values to the input signal. The apparatus further includes a plurality of switches configured to activate the plurality of capacitors, the quantity of the plurality of predetermined capacitance values applied to the input signal based on a quantity of the plurality of capacitors that are active.

Capacitive passive mixer baseband receiver with broadband harmonic rejection

A telemetry device includes a resonant inductive link with a primary LC tank and secondary LC tank configured to resonate at a carrier frequency. A modulator assembly in communication with the secondary LC tank implements data-synchronized cyclic on-off keying modulation (COOK) to periodically create a short across the secondary LC tank in response to a pulse from a phase selector and phase-locked loop. During the full cycle-length of the short, data can be transmitted across the inductive link while the charge across the secondary LC tank is preserved. Power may be transferred across the link during non-shorted cycles.

Wireless data and power transfer over an inductive telemetry link

A prosthetic retina for implantation in an eye having a defective retina is formed from an array of nanowires having a predetermined spatial distribution, density, size and shape implanted in close proximity to the retina. An electrical conductor is formed at a first end of all nanowires in the array of nanowires and placed in contact with a bias source which biases the array. A plurality of electrodes is located on a second end of each of one nanowire or a bundle of nanowires in the array. Each nanowire produces a photocurrent at a corresponding electrode in response to detection of light impinging on the array of nanowires and the photocurrent stimulates one or more neurons adapted for visual perception. In the preferred embodiment, the predetermined spatial distribution mimics a distribution of rods and cones in a normal eye.

Ultra-high photosensitivity vertical nanowire arrays for retinal prosthesis

An electric field sensor includes one or more sensing electrodes connected to an integrated amplifier that bootstraps all parasitic capacitances at the sensor input to provide for a very high input impedance without the need for neutralization or other adjustments and calibration. The integrated amplifier for the electric field sensor further includes low-noise ESD/biasing structures to stabilize the DC-potential of the sensor with a minimum amount of added noise, leakage and parasitic capacitance.

Integrated electric field sensor

A capacitive sensor system including a sensing plate, an amplifier, and a switching circuit is described. The sensing plate is capacitively coupled to a body surface. A change in the electric potential on the body surface generates an electric field that induces change in the electric potential of the sensing plate. The sensing plate includes a sensing node positioned in the electric field for generating an input signal from the electric field. The sensing plate is not in contact with the body surface. The amplifier receives the input signal at the input port, amplifies the input signal and generates an output signal at the output port. The switching circuit is connected to the input port and a reference voltage. The switching circuit non-continuously closes a shunting path from the sensing node to the reference voltage to reset the voltage at the sensing node.

Non-contact biopotential sensor

A network of coupled neurons for implementing Non-Lipschitz dynamics for modeling nonlinear processes or conditions comprising: a plurality of neurons, each being configurable in attractor and repulsion modes of operation, and programmable by an external signal; a plurality of synaptic connections for connecting at least a portion of the plurality of neurons for passage of data from one neuron to another; feedback circuitry for incrementing and decrementing an analog voltage output depending upon the output of the synaptic connection; whereby by the circuit solves Non-Lipschitz problems by programmably controlling the attractor and repulsion modes. A method of programming a network for solving Non-Lipschitz problems comprising providing a plurality of neurons, each programmable into a plurality of modes including repulsion and attraction modes; interconnecting the plurality of neurons using synaptic connections; providing feedback to at least one of the neurons; whereby by programming the neurons Non-Lipschitz terminal dynamics can be achieved.
