Described is a method of manufacture of 3D objects from composite materials. The method includes the use of an extrusion nozzle configured to extrude the composite material, including a multistrand filament with a thixotropic acrylic matrix material surrounding the multistrand filament. Extruding a 3D object surface segment spanning in the air over at least a segment of a discontinuous work surface and operating concurrently a source of curing energy to pin and enhance the strength of a 3D object surface segment spanning in air. The 3D object extruded surface segment spanning in the air is sufficiently rigid and maintains its shape without the use of a mandrel.

Automated manufacture of 3D objects from composite material

An apparatus for preparing a two-dimensional layer of a three-dimensional object during three-dimensional printing of the object. The apparatus may include a controller; a transparent substrate for receiving a deposited layer of liquid materials on an upper surface thereof; a selective deposition unit that deposits at least one liquid body material and a liquid support material different from the at least one liquid body material, on the transparent substrate according to signals received from the controller; and a selective curing unit that selectively solidifies, by curing irradiation, a portion of the deposited layer of liquid body materials on the transparent substrate according to signals received from the controller, such that some of the liquid body material remains uncured.

System and method for three-dimensional printing

A method for preparing a three-dimensional object, in layers is described. The method may include forming a layer on a transparent substrate by selectively depositing liquid material on a transparent substrate based on image data of a cross section of the layer, the image data including at least a body region, wherein the material extends on the transparent tray outside a contour defining the body region; contacting the layer to a previously solidified layer attached to an elevated fabrication platform; and selectively curing the liquid material by irradiating the layer with curing radiation through the transparent substrate according to high-resolution image data of the cross section such that the material that extends outside the contour remains uncured.

A DLP projector apparatus is provided for projecting a monochromatic display from plurality of monochromatic light sources. The DLP projector is adapted to radiate from each micromirror of its DMD chip an image comprising a plurality of radiated locations which are shifted with respect to each other. The DLP projector apparatus comprise a controller unit that is adapted to control the radiation from the plurality of light sources to the image according to a radiation scheme in an object production file. A DLP projector apparatus is also provided comprising an imaging table that is adapted to be moved in a plane perpendicular to an imaging beam of the projector. The imaging scheme and the movements of the table are controlled according to a radiation scheme in an object production file.

Enhanced resolution DLP projector apparatus and method of using same

A DLP projector apparatus () for projecting a monochromatic display comprising a plurality of monochromatic light sources (-). The DLP projector () being adapted to radiate from each micromirror of its DMD chip () an image comprising a plurality of radiated locations which are shifted with respect to each other. Methods and apparatus for preparing a layer of an object being fabricated by a three-dimensional printing process. Embodiments of the invention combine selective deposition with selective curing to benefit from the respective advantages of both techniques. Multiple printing heads deposit a two-dimensional cross section of the object being fabricated on a substrate which is transparent to curing radiation. The multiple printing heads selectively deposit different object body materials in different regions of the cross section and also selectively deposit regions of support material as necessary. The transparent substrate is then moved into registration with the object being fabricated so that the new layer is in contact with the object body, and an ultraviolet two-dimensional image of the cross section is projected through the substrate to selectively cure the new layer.

A method for building a three-dimensional (3-D) object is provided. The method may include dispensing an interface material to form a lower part of the three dimensional object, inserting an insert into a recess present in the lower part and dispensing the interface material on the lower part to form the three dimensional object.

System and method for printing and supporting three dimensional objects

A method for printing includes providing a substrate on which a matrix of color elements is defined, the color elements having respective center lines. A printhead assembly is positioned over the substrate. The printhead assembly includes multiple controllable nozzles. At least one of the substrate and the printhead assembly is translated so that the printhead assembly scans over the substrate in a scan direction transverse to the center lines of the color elements. Droplets of ink are ejected from the nozzles onto the substrate at selected times while the printhead assembly scans over the substrate. The times at which to eject the droplets are selected so as to cause the droplets to land on the color elements at respective locations, such that respective locations are displaced from the center lines.

Inkjet printing of color filters

A method of operating for an ink jet printer having a printer head bearing a plurality of equi-distantly spaced ink jets for printing parallel lines of dots on a substrate in n passes of the print head over the substrate. Between each pass of the printer head over the substrate, the printer head is displaced in a direction perpendicular to the direction of the lines by a distance y that satisfies: (i) y&equals;m,&times;a where m,is a natural number equal to 2 or more and a is the separation gap between adjacent lines; (ii) y is not a multiple of the inter ink jet separation distance of the printer head; and (iii) m,and n do not have a common factor except the factor with the value of 1. These conditions on y ensure that two adjacent lines are printed by different ink jets and that each line is printed by only one ink jet.

A video communication system for transmitting still pictures of a scene during periodic intervals comprises a T.V. camera producing video analog signals of the scene to be transmitted, an analog-to-digital converter converting the video analog signals to pixel digital signals representing the gray level of each pixel in the scene, a memory for storing the pixel gray levels, and a phase modulator for modulating a carrier wave by the pixel gray levels from the memory.
