A light-emitting device () is disclosed. The light-emitting device () comprises a plurality of light-emitting elements () or light sources and a power module () adapted to selectively convey, supply or provide electrical power to the light-emitting elements (). The power module () may be dimensioned such as to be able to power only a proper subset of the light-emitting elements () of the light-emitting device () at a given time, the subset having a maximum number of light-emitting elements () included therein with respect to the number of light-emitting elements () included in the all subsets of the light-emitting elements () of the light-emitting device (). The plurality of sets of light-emitting elements () may be arranged so as to emit light over a light emission area, and the plurality of sets of light-emitting elements () may be arranged relatively to each other such that different sets of light-emitting elements () emit light over different portions of the light emission area.

Light-emitting device and photo-therapy device comprising a light-emitting device

A method of biostimulating phototherapy is provided. The method comprises illuminating a subject's body portion with light having a first wavelength in the range of 600-900 nm. The method further comprises the step of at least one of reducing and preventing hyperthermia of the body portion by illuminating the body portion with light having a second wavelength which is at least one of in the range of 400-600 nm and in the range of 900-2500 nm. Further, a phototherapy device is provided which comprises a first light source and a second light source. The first light source is configured to emit light having a first wavelength which is in the range of 600-900 nm. The second light source is configured to emit light having a second wavelength which is at least one of in the range of 400-600 nm and in the range of 900-2500 nm. At least a portion of the device is a patch which is formed for conforming to at least part of the body portion. The device further comprises a sensor for sensing at least one skin property and a controller configured to operate at least the second light source as a function of the determined skin property.

Phototherapy method and device

A light-emitting device () is disclosed. The light-emitting device () comprises a plurality of light-emitting elements () or light sources and a power module () adapted to selectively convey, supply or provide electrical power to the light-emitting elements (). A light emitting device for application near mammal tissue includes a flexible body having a front surface for facing the mammal tissue and an opposing back surface. The flexible body accommodates at least one light source which is arranged for irradiating an irradiation area of the mammal tissue. A thermally insulating layer covers the back surface of the flexible body. The thermally insulating layer has a larger surface area than the flexible body.

An appearance-modifying device for modifying the visual appearance of a surface covered thereby, the device comprising a first substrate, a second substrate, a spacer structure spacing apart the first and second substrates in such a way that a space between the first and second-substrates is divided into a plurality of cells wherein in each cell, an optically transparent fluid having a plurality of particles is dispersed therein, wherein each of the cells is configured such that a distribution state of the particles is controllable in a first distribution state and an appearance of the surface covered by the appearance-modifying device is determined by optical properties of the particles and a second distribution state in which the particles are concentrated onto one of a first particle concentration site and a second particle concentration site.

Appearance-modifying device, and method for operating such a device

It is disclosed an appearance-modifying device (), for modifying the visual appearance of a surface covered thereby. The appearance-modifying device () comprises two oppositely arranged substrates (), which are spaced apart by a spacer structure (). The spacer structure () spaces apart the two substrates () in such a way that a space between the two substrates () is divided into a plurality of cells (), the shapes of the individual cells () being such that an aperiodic cell pattern () is formed by the cells (). Each cell () may comprise an optically transparent fluid having a plurality of particles dispersed therein. The particles are moveable in the fluid through application of an electric field. An appliance at least partly covered by the appearance-modifying device () is also disclosed. Furthermore, it is disclosed a method for manufacturing the appearance-modifying device.

Appearance-modifying device, and method for manufacturing such a device

An image display apparatus including a display device for displaying an image by emission of display light in a first direction; a scattering layer disposed in front of the display device, for scattering at least a portion of ambient light; a transparent plate-shaped light source, arranged parallel to the scattering layer and being optically coupled to the scattering layer. The plate-shaped light source may be a passive light source, in which case at least one light source is arranged along an edge of the plate-shaped light source. When the display device is ON, the scattering layer and the plate-shaped light source are transparent. When the display device is OFF, the scattering layer is scattering and the plate-shaped light source is ON.

Plasma display panel in which the fluorescent layer, a dielectric layer having a high relative dielectric constant, is provided between the electrodes and the phosphor(s). This improve the efficacy of the device and lowers minimum sustain voltage and firing voltages.

A plasma picture screen is provided with a front plate, which comprises a glass plate on which a dielectric layer and a protective layer are provided, with a carrier plate provided with a phosphor layer comprising a red and a blue phosphor as well as a green, Tb -activated phosphor, with a ribbed structure that subdivides the space between the front plate and the carrier plate into plasma cells filled with a gas comprising xenon, and with one or several electrode arrays on the front plate and the carrier plate for generating corona discharges in the plasma cells. The gas comprises xenon in a proportion of between 5 and 30% by volume.

Plasma display panel in which the fluorescent layer comprises non-saturating green phosphor(s). This improves the efficacy of UV-light generation and allows the use of higher sustain voltages, leading to further improvement of the efficacy and luminance. The display panel may include driver means for sustaining a generated plasma with a sustain voltage whose peak to peak voltage is at least 400V. This can be combined with existing red and blue phosphor to obtain a desired color.

In a plasma display or a field emission display, sub-pixels having extra (non-saturating) phosphors are applied to enhance the efficacy. Depending on the luminance and color of a pixel to be displayed, driving of the most efficient combination of sub-pixels is performed.

Color display device

The invention relates to an erasable non-volatile memory in which a diode is formed at each point of intersection between the x-selection lines (K,) and y-selection lines (R,), of which diode the anode and cathode are conductively connected to the x- and y-selection lines. The diodes are formed in hydrogenated amorphous silicon or silicon compounds such as amorphous S,Ge,. Writing takes place by means of a current pulse through selected diodes. The current in the forward direction becomes much lower, for example a few hundred times lower, than in diodes which are not selected, probably owing to degradation in the semiconductor material. The diodes may be returned to their original state again (i.e. be erased) through heating, for example at a temperature of 200&deg; C. during 100 minutes. Preferably, the diodes are formed by Schottky diodes because the characteristic in the reverse direction does not (substantially) change in this type of diode. The Schottky diodes may be formed in the transitional region between the amorphous intrinsic semiconductor material (,) and the selection lines (K,).
