In some examples, a method for operating a gas burner appliance includes determining, on basis of a nominal burner-load and on basis of a mixing ratio of gas and air of a gas/air mixture or a &#x3bb;-value of the gas/air mixture, a nominal air mass flow in order to provide the nominal burner-load. The method further comprises determining the ambient air pressure and the ambient air temperature of the ambient air, determining, on basis of the ambient air pressure and on basis of the ambient air temperature, the atmospheric density of the ambient air, determining on basis of the nominal air mass flow, on basis of the determined atmospheric density of the ambient air, and on basis of a system resistance of the gas burner appliance, the fan speed of the fan in order to provide the nominal burner-load.

Method and controller for operating a gas burner appliance

A device for handling combustion gas comprises: a housing, a first electronic element, a second electronic element, a connecting element, and a sealing element. The housing defines a gas chamber for the combustion gas and an ambient chamber for ambient air. The first electronic element is positioned within the gas chamber and is exposed to the combustion gas. The second electronic element is positioned within the ambient chamber and is not exposed to the combustion gas but is exposed to the ambient air. The connecting element electrically connects the first electronic element and the second electronic element. The sealing element is made at least partially from an elastomer, and is compressed between the connecting element and the housing, and seals the gas chamber against the ambient chamber even if electrically insulating material of the connecting element or the connecting element is removed.

Device for handling combustion gas

Servo gas valve comprising a gas inlet connection, a servo gas connection, a bleed gas connection, a valve body, and first and second valve seats. When a first section of the valve body is pressed against the first valve seat, the gas inlet connection is closed and the servo gas connection and the bleed gas connection are in communication with each other. When a second section of the valve body is pressed against the second valve seat, the gas inlet connection is opened and is in communication with servo gas connection while the bleed gas connection and the servo gas connection are not in communication with each other. The first section of the valve body is configured to allow for self-alignment of the first section of the valve body relative to the first valve seat when the first section of the valve body is pressed against the first valve seat.

Servo gas valve

A gas valve includes a valve seat, a valve stem, a valve body, and a valve diaphragm. The valve body acts together with the valve seat in such a way that the gas valve is in a closed state when the valve body is pressed against the valve seat and the gas valve is in an opened state when the valve body is lifted up from the valve seat. In a partially opened state, a connection between the valve stem and the valve body allows the valve body to tilt relative to the valve stem. The tilt may help provide more stable contact between the valve body and the valve seat when the gas valve is in the partially opened state. This can reduce wear on the gas valve by reducing, for example, valve body bounce.

Gas valve and gas control device

In a modulating gas burner, the mixing ratio of a gas/air mixture is controlled over a modulation range of the gas burner by a pneumatic controller. During burner on phases, the combustion quality is monitored via a combustion quality sensor. The combustion quality is used to detect tolerances of the pneumatic controller and/or a potentially changing behavior of the pneumatic controller by checking if the combustion quality is inside or outside a defined combustion quality range. When the combustion quality is inside the defined combustion quality range, the mixing ratio of gas and air of the gas/air mixture is not changed. When the combustion quality is outside the defined combustion quality range, the mixing ratio of gas and air of the gas/air mixture is changed by adjusting a gas throttle to compensate for tolerances of the pneumatic controller and/or for a potentially changing behavior of the pneumatic controller.

Method for operating a gas burner

A gas valve body with a first flow chamber and, a second flow chamber including and a main valve positioned in line and between the first flow chamber and the second flow chamber. The main valve can be opened by creating a pressure differential across the main valve. An electrostatically controlled pilot valve is provided for controlling the pressure differential across the main valve for 'on-ff' operation. The electrostatically controlled pilot valve may also be operated to 'modulate' the pressure differential across the main valve along a range of pressure differential values.

Electrostatically actuated gas valve

Gas flow control is addressed using a controllable approach that facilitates safe operation. According to an example embodiment, a control arrangement for gas flow comprises two main valves connected in series and two servo valves operated by an actuator, the opening of the main valves being controlled via said servo valves. The main valves are operated by means of diaphragms limiting a first gas chamber, wherein the first servo valve is connected to the first gas chamber of the first main valve, to a second gas chamber in the inlet area of the first main valve and to the first gas chamber of the second main valve. Due to this construction a leakage gas flow out of the first gas chamber of the first main valve leads, if the first servo valve fails, to an increase in pressure in the first gas chamber of the second main valve, whereby it is ensured that the main valve is safely closed.

Gas flow control

An approach for gas flow control is achieved with an arrangement involving a sealed housing with relatively few components. According to an example embodiment, a gas flow controller comprises a gas inlet, a gas outlet, and an auxiliary chamber including a partition wall that separates it from the gas inlet. By means of a differential pressure between the inlet and the auxiliary chamber, a valve arrangement is actuated through a diaphragm provided on the partition wall to control a flow from the gas inlet to the gas outlet. A servo pumpis provided on the partition wall and produces the differential pressure by pumping the gas from the auxiliary chamber to the gas inlet.

A gas flow controller includes a control valve coupled for actuating a main valve. In one example embodiment, a gas flow controller includes a main valve and a servo valve operated by an actuator, said servo valve being used for controlling the opening of the main valve. The servo valve is implemented in a variety of manners, such as a three-way valve means or as a double two-way valve. The servo valve further communicates, via gas pipes, with a first gas chamber limited by a diaphragm being in operative connection with the main valve, as well as to a second gas chamber in the inlet area, and a third gas chamber in the outlet area.
