Devices and methods are used for ascertaining wheel positions of wheels on a wheeled vehicle. Separate wheel units are connected to each other via a vehicle bus and via an additional supply lead, so that for the purposes of learning the separate wheel units, the separate wheel units are connected to the supply lead successively in a predetermined sequence and provided with a new, individual identity code, or subjected to a wheel-unit-specific dc voltage potential as an identity code by using at least one additional connection.

A navigation equipment for a moving vehicle which includes a magnetic field probe 1 and a travel distance meter 2 which supplies position values Xa, Ya using dead-reckoning navigation which can be checked with a street map. The street map is digitally represented in a plat memory 4 using a network 42 which has meshes comprising network elements 421. The network elements 421 uses a binary 1 which represents a street and in other positions utilize a binary 0. The addresses of the network elements 421 in the plat memory 4 are ordered according to an x-y coordinate system and are addressable with the position coordinates Xa and Ya. The correction stage 5 checks a position indication Xa, Ya for a street value 1 or a 0 (deviant value) and when k successive deviant values occur, they are successively shifted in direction until street values result. The resulting shift values are then added as a correction value to every position indication Xa, Ya afterwards.

Navigation equipment for a moving vehicle

For identifying the position of a movable body comprising a reflector, a primary transducer and a secondary transducer are utilized which transmit ultrasonic pulses to the reflector and, in turn, detect the ultrasonic pulses reflected by the reflector. A measuring device identifies a positional value assigned to the position of the reflector from the transit times of the ultrasonic pulses from both transducers. To this end, the measuring equipment has a primary control to which a calculator, a primary memory, a timer and a pilot control are coupled. Furthermore, the measuring equipment has a receiver, a transmitter and a transfer device which alternately connects the ultrasonic transducers to the measuring equipment.
