An apparatus for treating fine ore in which fine ore is dried by aid of a hot drying gas flowing around the ore particles. After having flown around the ore particles, the drying gas is purified while releasing entrained dust ore particles. The dust ore particles are collected and admixed to the dried fine ore. In order to avoid process disturbances in the further processing of fine ore due to excessive portions of dust ore particles present without the fine ore, drying is effected in the whirl-bed method under simultaneous wind-screening of the fine ore. The drying gas is passed through the fine ore under formation of a whirl bed and the speed of the drying gas is fixed at a rate at which entraining of dust ore particles having dimensions below a predetermined dimension is effected. The dust ore particles entrained in the drying gas are separated, collected and admixed to the dried fine ore in dosed amounts. The apparatus includes a fine ore whirl-bed drying means including a drying-gas feeding means. A drying-gas purification means receives the hot drying gas from the whirl-bed drying means. A separating means separates from the hot drying gas dust ore particles entrained by the drying gas. A first collecting vessel receives the dust ore particles separated from the hot drying gas. A mixing means mixes the dried fine ore and the dust ore particles separated from the drying gas to a predetermined quantitative ratio.

Apparatus for treating fine ore

In a process for treating fine ore, the fine ore is dried by aid of a hot drying gas flowing around the ore particles of the fine ore, the drying gas, after having flown around the ore particles, is purified while releasing entrained dust ore particles and the dust ore particles are collected and admixed to the dried fine ore. Method of treating fine ore

A method of and apparatus for charging fine-grained ore into a reactor pressure vessel through which process gas flows. The heated ore at first is introduced into a conveying pressure vessel, is pressurized within the same by compressed gas and subsequently is conveyed into the reactor pressure vessel through a conveying duct by aid of the compressed gas. In order to ensure favorable utilization of the reactor pressure vessel under uniform stress and to safeguard troublefree progression of reduction while directly charging the ore, a portion of the ore is introduced into at least one further conveying pressure vessel and is pressurized within the same also by compressed gas. Charging of the ore into the reactor pressure vessel is effected continuously by alternately feeding once from the one conveying pressure vessel and subsequently from the other conveying pressure vessel. The compressed gas is taken from the process gas as a quantitative or as a component portion of the process gas and is fed back to the same along with the ore.

Method of charging ore

In the manufacture of cold-moulded briquettes from iron-containing waste metallurgical material mixed with a binder, in order to obtain high-strength briquettes and almost complete reducibility, magnetite waste metallurgical material such as scale (1) is mixed with haematite fine material (5) to form a layer (10) of haematite line materials (5) enveloping the individual magnetite particles (9), after which the binder is added to the mixture (FIG. 1).

Method of producing cold-moulded iron-containing briquettes

In order to utilise wastes or residues containing iron in the oxide form and/or iron in the metallic form and/or containing carbon (38,25,34), a process is used with which molten pig iron (16) or steel preliminary products can be produced, iron ore (4) being reduced to sponge iron in a direct reduction zone (2), the sponge iron being melted in a melting-gasification zone (15) with the supply of carbon-containing material (29) with gasification of the carbon-containing material (29) to reducing gas, and the reducing gas is fed into the direct reduction zone (2), reacted there and drawn off as top gas. In order to be able to utilise the wastes or residues completely and in an energy-saving manner, the wastes or residues (38, 25, 34) are collected separately in three groups depending on their chemical composition, namely a first group contains chiefly substances containing iron in the oxide form (38), a second group chiefly substances containing iron in the metallic form (25) and a third group chiefly carbon-containing substances (34), and the first group is charged into the direct reduction zone (2) and the second group and the third group are charged directly into the melting-gasification zone (15).

Process for utilising iron-containing wastes or residues

For the purpose of increasing the efficiency during drying of brown coals having a high water content and for the purpose of facilitating the purification of process waste water resulting in a drying process according to Fleissner it is proposed to spray hot water onto the raw coal and to separate the proportion in fine grain having a maximum grain size of 5 mm, preferably of 1 mm. In the following, the proportion in fine grain is subjected to an adsorption stage (5), noting that after a reaction time of at least 1 min, preferably of 2 to 5 min, a major portion of the soluble substances burdening the waste water becomes adsorbed on this fine grain. Subsequently, the waste water is further purified after a flocculating step in a flocculating reactor (6) and after a separating step (8) for separating solid matter, for which purpose can be used sand filters (10), adsorbing resins and activated carbon. The separated process water can be used as feed water for a steam production in a combustion plant (13) and be partially used for rinsing the sand filters (10).

Process for drying brown coal of high water content

A drying plant for brown coals of high water content comprises, as seen in flow direction of the coal and one behind the other, a conveyor means (2) equipped with a means (3) for spraying hot waste water onto the coal, a wet sieve (4) equipped with a means (5) for supplying residual steam, a conveyor means (6) for conveying the sieved material to a pressure lock (7), a preheating means (8) equipped with a pressure lock (7) at the charging location and with connections for steam conduits (11), a further pressure lock (13) for discharging the coal from the preheating means (8) and for charging the coal into an autoclave (14) being adapted for being supplied with steam, preferably saturated steam, and having connected thereto waste water conduits (12), a sieve drum (15) arranged within the autoclave (14) and being equipped with a variable rotational drive means (16) and with conveyor elements, in particular screw conveyor elements, a further pressure lock (19) for discharging the steamed material into a subsequent drying means (20), a subsequent drying means (20) having a connection (22) for preheated gases such as steam, air or inert gases, and a means (23) for transporting away the dry coal.
