A base station () of a radio-operated telecommunications system is described, which is provided with a receiver for processing received information () and with at least one digital signal processor () for performing a symbol rate processing (). The signal processor () is suitable for and provided for likewise performing at least parts of a chip rate processing ().

Base station of a radio-operated communications system

A method of initializing a link between a mobile terminal of a public mobile network and a domestic base station, for example a public switched network base station, comprises authentication of the mobile terminal by the public mobile network, transmission of data for initializing the link with the domestic base station to the terminal from the public mobile network and transmission of the data from the mobile terminal to the domestic base station. The public mobile network operator can therefore manage the channels used by the mobile terminal for the link with the domestic base station. The method further assures authentication that is as secure as that of the public mobile network.

Method of initializing a link between a mobile terminal and a domestic base station

In known telecommunication systems comprising two separate radio systems each one using its own clock signal for defining its channels multiplexed in time, said radio systems cause too much interference with each other. By introducing a coupling between both radio systems for creating a predefined phase difference between their channels by adjusting at least one of said clock signals, the interference can be reduced, in particular in case said phase difference is continuously altered in time, by increasing or decreasing said phase difference all the time.

It is proposed to create a new radio communication system (SYS) which is based primarily on existing technologies, by using a stationary and a mobile radio device (DBS; MMS) with standard technology. The radio devices are modified in such a way that for setting up the radio link between the radio devices, at least one of the radio devices (MMS) transmits in the opposite direction of the radio protocol (PGSM) one of the radio signals (FB) which is actually intended to be transmitted by the other radio device (DBS). For example, the radio signal (FB, frequency correction burst) which is intended only for the downward direction (DL, downlink) is here transmitted in the upward direction (UL, uplink). This modification requires only changes in the control software for the transmitter in the mobile radio device and for the receiver in the stationary radio device.
