In one embodiment, a power module device includes a base plate, an electrically insulating ceramic layer on the base plate, and an electrically insulating first insulating layer on the ceramic layer. The first insulating layer includes a prepreg material. An electrically conductive lead frame is disposed on the first insulating layer and electrically insulated therefrom. A power semiconductor device disposed on the lead frame and embedded between the lead frame and a second insulating layer.

A system and method for compensating a faulty switch in a multi-level flying capacitor converter includes a converter capacitor arranged in parallel to an input, a first and second converter switches arranged respectively between first and second ends of the converter capacitor, first and second bypass switches respectively arranged in parallel to the first and second converter switches, wherein operation includes detecting a faulty converter level that includes at least one of the first and second converter switches, discharging all capacitors arranged in parallel to the input of the multi-level converter, wherein all capacitors comprise the converter capacitors and an input capacitor; closing the first and second bypass switches of the faulty converter level; adapting a modulation of the converter switches of the other converter levels; and restarting the multi-level converter.

A multi-phase inductor includes a core made of a magnetic material; at least two phase windings surrounding the core for inducing a magnetic field in the core, such that a common mode inductance (LCM) is provided for the at least two phase windings; and an adjustment member made of a magnetic material, which adjustment member has at least two legs, which are interconnected with each other at an inner end and which are touching the core at an outer end to provide a differential mode inductance (LDM) for the at least two phase windings; wherein the outer end of each leg of the adjustment member overlays an axial side of the core and/or each leg of the adjustment member has a varying thickness between the inner end and the outer end to adjust the differential mode inductance (LDM).

This invention relates to a cooling apparatus comprising a base plate, an evaporator and a condenser. In order to obtain a simple and efficient cooling apparatus the evaporator is a porous aluminum evaporator having a capillary structure with pores and a plurality of larger sized evaporator channels extending through the evaporator between a second end and the first end of the evaporator. A compensation chamber extending along a second surface of the evaporator receives first fluid from the condenser such that pores opening up into the second surface of the evaporator are provided with first fluid.

Cooling apparatus and method

An electric converter system, including a housing configured to receive a dielectric fluid, at least two electric modules, each including a first space and a second space, the first space including a connecting portion and a cooling system configured to circulate the dielectric fluid to cool the electric modules. The converter system further includes an inter module bus bar portion including a complementary connecting portion, whereby the connecting portion is configured to be connected to the complementary connecting portion of the inter module bus bar portion, whereby the inter module bus bar portion is configured to interconnect one of the at least two electric modules with the other of the at least two electric modules, said one electric module being proximate to said other electric module, and whereby the connecting portion, the first space and the second space of each electric module are arranged in series.

An electronic device including a sealed enclosure, the electronic components arranged inside the sealed enclosure and including high-loss high-temperature components, a main heat sink including ribs, wherein the high-loss high-temperature components are attached to the main heat sink and the ribs of the main heat sink are arranged outside the enclosure, a cavity formed inside the enclosure and divided into a plurality of channel-like sections, the channel-like sections configured for providing air flow guidance inside the enclosure and being interconnected at their ends, wherein at least one channel-like section contains the electronic components and at least one other channel-like section contains an air-to-air heat exchanger extending from inside the sealed enclosure to outside of the sealed enclosure, wherein the electronic components inside the at least one channel like section are adapted to be cooled by air flow inside the sealed enclosure.
