The gear rim may have a multiplicity of teeth that extend radially outward from a central encircling annular web. The support element may be a support ring that by means of an injection-molding method is injected between the gear rim and the hub. The support element may connect in a form-fitting manner the hub and the gear rim. The gear rim may include reinforcement ribs that, on both end sides, from the teeth extend radially in a direction of a worm gear longitudinal axis.

A worm gear for a worm gear mechanism of a motor vehicle steering system includes a carrier body and a multiplicity of teeth with tooth surfaces. The teeth point radially outward and the carrier body is formed from a plastic including reinforcement fibers and has a multiplicity of ribs with rib surfaces which point radially outward from a central encircling ring-shaped web of the worm gear. The teeth are applied to the ribs of the carrier body by injection molding, and the reinforcement fibers are oriented, wherein the multiplicity of reinforcement fibers, in terms of their orientation, follow the adjacent rib surfaces of the carrier body and/or the adjacent tooth surfaces of the teeth.

A device and a method may be used to determine a highly accurate absolute angle of rotation Xt of the rotational position of a rotatably supported steering shaft. Rotation of a rotor of an electric motor with a gearing with a gearing transmission factor K for power assistance may be coupled into rotation of the steering shaft. A rotational position of rotation of the rotor can be measured by means of a rotor position sensor and by using a number of revolutions of the rotor that have occurred. This value is used directly to determine the highly accurate absolute angle of rotation Xt of the steering shaft. Calibration methods involve determining initial values from which the counting of revolutions or the calculations occur.

An apparatus for introducing an auxiliary torque and/or an additional steering angle into a steering shaft of an electromechanical power steering system may comprise a gearwheel that is attached fixedly on the steering shaft so as to rotate with the steering shaft and that is operatively connected to a drive element of a drive motor for driving the gearwheel. The apparatus may further include a sensor that is connected fixedly to the steering shaft so as to rotate with the steering shaft. So that the attachment of the sensor can take place with less complexity and use less installation space as far as possible, the sensor and the gearwheel may be connected to one another at contact faces.
