The sluice oscillates about a shaft (16) in order to control the level of a downstream reach (4) to occupy a reference level as defined by the position of an opening (36) for connection to the atmosphere and suitable for being closed by a needle (38) carried on a float (40). The plate (6) is driven by a caisson (18) which is immersed in the upstream reach (2) and which contains a quantity of water (28) that is increased by sucking air via a hydraulic Venturi (50) driven by the flow of water between the two reaches. The displacements of the float (40) control the pressure reduction which is actually applied to said caisson in such a manner as to obtain the desired level control. The invention is applicable to controlling irrigation networks.

Automatic level-regulating sluice

A sluice gate is provided in the form of a vane wheel on a horizontal shaft mounted transversally across the sluice in which it is installed, said vanes being distributed about the shaft and being partially immersible for the purpose of gate operation, same said vanes providing different sluice closing surface areas and said sluice gate comprising wheel locking means to maintain the vanes fixedly in the sluice. Application in small irrigation sluices is suggested.

Rotary sluice gate

An energy-efficient automatic sluice gate for sustaining a fluid level, separating an upstream pool from a downstream pool in an irrigation system and enabling the level of water in one of the pools to be kept constant at a settable value. A sluice gate separates an upstream pool (1) from a downstream pool (2) and enables the level of one of the pools to be kept constant at a settable value, said gate comprising a baffle (3) movable about a horizontal rotational shaft (4) whereby the rotation of the baffle about its shaft determines the flow of water downstream, said baffle constituting a segment of a cylinder having the said rotational shaft as its axis, and further comprising a box member (7A) and a second box member (7B), both moving with the baffle and dipping respectively in the upstream pool and in the downstream pool, means (9, 13, 15) for at least partially filling the box members, means (20) for keeping constant the level in the first or the second box member according to whether the level in the upstream pool or in the downstream pool is to be kept constant and means (50) of setting said constant level value.
