This disclosure relates to bone fixation plate and a system for treatment of injuries of the distal tibiofibular syndesmosis. The bone fixation plate provides an improved stability to the distal fibula.

An exemplary bone screw includes a proximal section including a first outer thread, a center section including a second outer thread, an unthreaded distal section on an opposite side of the center section from the proximal section, a channel extending from the proximal section to a distal opening of the unthreaded distal section, and at least one side opening extending from the channel to an outer surface of the unthreaded distal section. In some embodiments, the at least one side opening includes a cutting edge configured to cut a material as the bone screw is rotated in a direction for removing the bone screw. In other embodiments, the side opening is formed in at least one of the center section and the unthreaded distal section and includes a diameter that increases in a direction from the channel toward an outer surface of the center section or the unthread distal section. The exemplary bone screws may be used to treat bone fractures with or without a bone plate.

The nail is provided with a transverse bore arranged along a transverse axis that intersects the longitudinal axis. The bone fixation device further includes a screw assembly received in the transverse bore, and a locking device. The locking device is configured to clasp the screw assembly to lock the screw assembly against movement along the transverse axis and against rotation about the transverse axis.

A bone plate configured to accommodate fixation devices (such as screws, for example) inserted at various angles. The bone plate is formed of a material softer than the material of the fixation devices, and is provided with fixation holes with rounded, curved interior walls (i.e., non-threaded holes) that allow the fixation devices to be inserted at various angles. The fixation holes have a diameter smaller than that of the fixation devices. As a result of the difference between the materials of the plate and of fixation devices, and of the difference between the diameters of the fixation holes and of the fixation devices, the fixation devices deform the interior walls of the fixation holes, therefore self-threading the holes at an advantageous angle.

Methods of arthroscopic resurfacing of a joint utilizing a biological component strengthened with fibrin glue. The biological component is selected from the group consisting of PRP, bone marrow aspirate (BMA) and autologous conditioned plasma (ACP). The biological component/fibrin glue composition may be inserted (by injection or by employing a biologic resurfacing mold, for example) into a transosseous tunnel in the vicinity of the defect to be repaired. Upon insertion at the defect site, the biological component/fibrin glue composition is designed to coagulate and solidify within few minutes, to advance the healing of the damaged tissue and tissue growth. The biological component/fibrin glue composition may optionally comprise components such as growth factors, antiseptic chemicals and/or antibiotics and/or electrolytes, or hormones or site-specific hybrid proteins, among others.

A humeral component of a shoulder prosthesis encloses a stem module which has a shank and an upper shank portion with a stem support surface. A joint adapter is adapted to hold either a liner or a spherical cap. The joint adapter has an adapter support surface which interfaces with the stem support surface. Further, the stem support surface and the adapter support surface have corresponding radial arc shaped sections which allow positioning of the joint adapter against the stem module at different inclination angles. For fastening the joint adapter to the stem module, a bolt or screw is provided.

Methods of arthroscopic resurfacing of anatomical tissue utilizing a biological component strengthened with glue or similar material. The biological component is selected from the group consisting of blood, blood components, PRP, bone marrow aspirate (BMA) and autologous conditioned plasma (ACP). The biological component/glue composition may be inserted (by injection and/or by employing a biologic resurfacing mold, for example) into, or in the vicinity of, the anatomical tissue. A humerus implant for a reverse shoulder prosthesis has a cup shaped body and a thread at the outside of the body. The thread has a plurality of fins with cut-outs between the fins. At least one fin has an inclined leading surface which helps in incising into the bone by rotating the body in an inward direction. Furthermore, at least one fin has a forward oriented undercut trailing surface blocking rotation in the outward direction.

Stemless shoulder implant

A technique for joint repair employing a suture/button construct and an applicator designed to securely engage a button of the suture/button construct. The button of the suture/button construct securely engages the shaft of the applicator. The suture from the button may be wrapped around a securing device (for example, a rod or bolt) located on or within the handle. The applicator with the secured button is introduced into the tissue (for example, soft tissue or a bone tunnel) and the button is passed through the tissue.

An expanding plug for tendon fixation features a two-part system in which an expansion pin fits inside a fixation sleeve. The fixation sleeve is configured to expand diametrically to achieve interference fixation of a graft tendon inside of a bone tunnel. Fixation sleeve expansion is urged by a two-step engagement of the expansion pin. The tendon graft is assembled to the expanding bolt and situated within a bone tunnel. Passing suture is used to pull a joint-line end of the expansion pin into the tunnel to partially expand the fixation sleeve at the joint-line end. Pulling a graft end of the expansion pin toward the joint line expands the fixation sleeve to place the expanding plug in the fully deployed configuration.
