A closing unit for an injection molding machine includes a substantially C-shaped machine frame, to the first leg of which is mounted a stationary mold mounting plate and to the second leg of which is mounted a closing mechanism for driving a moveable mold mounting plate. The free ends of the legs of the machine frame are deformed under the influence of the closing force occurring during the closing operation. The stationary mold mounting plate is supported at or near its lower edge by a support element on the machine frame against the closing force, and is fixedly connected above the lower edge to the first leg. The support element has a flexural beam extending transversely relative to the longitudinal axis of the machine, and a compression bar extending in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the machine.

An Injection moulding machine with substantially C-shaped machine frames including a joint part arranged between at least one die platen and the machine frame, the joint part comprising a beam extending in the longitudinal direction of the machine which is deformed upon application of a clamping force such that the at least one die platen is tilted relative to the associated side of the machine frame, the support of said beam effected substantially by at least two spaced support surfaces which are arranged above and below the midplane of the at least one die platen whose vertical position may be associated with the elastic deformation of the joint part by means of an adjustable abutment and extending the at least one die platen at an angle to the vertical.

Apparatus for injection molding plastic material has a stationary and a movable mold mounting plate which each fixes a respective mold half and thus establishes a horizontal central plane (Z) of the mold. At least one mold mounting plate (8, 2) is pivotable relative to the machine frame (1) about a centrally arranged horizontal axis (15, 15'), and rotary pivots (5, 5') forming a horizontal pivot axis of the mold mounting plate is displaced upwardly relative to the horizontal central plane (Z) of the mold.
